This 2011 Essential Jazz Classics release is different from previous "Complete" versions of the Berlin 1960 concert CD, but you'd not immediately know that from the number of tracks.
Some releases contained 13 tracks, but only 11 were from Berlin: "Love for Sale" and "Just One of Those Things" were mistakenly included, but were actually from the Hollywood Bowl concert in 1956. However, some of the "Complete" CDs of those versions have 19 tracks, since they include the intros as separate tracks. There are only 13 songs, however.
This 2011 EJC version does not label the intros separately, but still has 20 tracks: the original 13, plus an extra set of 7 bonus tracks from the Cannes festival in 1959.
- original Verve LP release contained only 9 tracks from the 1960 Berlin concert
- later releases included 2 extra Berlin tracks ["That Old Black Magic" & "Our Love is Here to Stay"], originally intended only for radio broadcast. These 11 tracks are the entirety of the recorded Berlin concert (Ella was not the only act on the bill)
- later releases also included the 2 Hollywood Bowl tracks from 1956 ["Love for Sale" & "Just One of Those Things"]. That's 13 tracks, but is often presented as 19 by also listing the song intros.
- this 2011 EJC release contains those 13 tracks, plus additional 7 tracks from Cannes 1959, for a total of 20.
