1.0 out of 5 stars Awful! Makes you appreciate the original!, 30 Jan 2000

Well what can I say? Boring, boring and more boring. There is no plot, no anticipation, a weak attempt to continue Jane Austin's novel.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible, 22 May 2003
By Rachel E. Quinlivan - Published on Amazon.com
This review is from: Elinor and Marianne (Charnwood Library) (Hardcover)
Emma Tennant is supposedly a great writer of Jane Austen sequels, but if this book is any indication of her work I would not bother reading any of them. This book is a continuation of Austen's masterpiece "Sense and Sensibility" but the direction Tennant takes with the characters, particularly Marianne is insane. Any character trait from S & S is completely overlooked in the sequel. Tennant butchers these characters and the end result is not something a fan of Austen should ever read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable, yes, but an interesting sequel, 12 Jan 2010
By The Girl Who Loved Books - Published on Amazon.com

I read the other reviews and I laughed. The plot is a bit wild, but enjoyable. If you liked the 1995 movie "Sense and Sensibility" with Emma Thompson and Kate Winslet, you will enjoy this book. If you're a rabid Austenite, well, stick with something else.
