Elian McCready has been one of the best-selling designers for tapestry company Ehrman for many years with her rich, colourful and innovative designs of the natural world. Freely admitting to a hording tendency at home, this overflows into her designs, rarely leaving space for background, so full of fruit or flowers is the picture. Wallhangings, cushions, stools and even slippers and waistcoats are included in this collection of her designs. Peonies and hollyhocks, cockerels and cats, pansies and irises, roses and Flemish florals, pineapples and pears - all appear in the vibrant hues so synonymous with McCready's name. Gloriously presented in full colour throughout, the patterns are clearly illustrated and explained together with photographs of the finished result. An introduction to each project by McCready herself gives her thoughts on the subjects and the inspiration behind them. A short synopsis of techniques is included at the rear, again clearly illustrated and succinctly pertinent.. More aimed at experienced needlepersons, this would make a wonderful gift for lovers of McCready's designs and Ehrman tapestries. As you would expect from Elian McCready, the designs in this book are both beautiful and inspiring. As soon as you open the first page, the quality of the work is obvious and your anticipation of what lies on the next page builds. An interesting personal introduction sets the scene for the following works and gives some insight into the author/artists perspective. The detail of each design is immaculate, confirming the artists status as one of needlepoints top designers.
As far as the projects themselves are concerned, the ubiquitous cushion covers are present but are well balanced by wall hanging, tea cosy and waistcoat designs amongst others.
Each design is accompanied by an interesting written piece detailing the history of the subject matter and/or style along with insight into the design process, making the book an interesting read as well as an invaluable pattern book.
The scope of the design subject matter includes animals, (gorgeous) floral designs and glorious fruit designs.
The charts are presented in full colour with the keys and project requirements being very easy to read.
People familiar with the Ehrman range of needlepoint designs will be pleased to know that some of Elian's designs featured in Ehrman's catalogue are also included in this book and thankfully, Elian's designs in The Ehrman Needlepoint Book are all different to those presented here.
All in all, I have looked forward to the release of this book for some time and have not been disappointed by it at all. Truly superb!

i liked Elian McCready needlepoint book very much i found it very imformative as a beginer the pictures are lovely and i recieved it quite quickly
