I have owned a percolator for years. They do a better job of keeping your coffee hot compared to the drip pots with a warmer plate and don't use paper filters. They also do not destroy the environment like the new coffee machines with the expensive little pods that fill the bin when used. If you are really green the coffee grounds do wonders for the garden and can be composted.

This percolator is easily the best I have had in years. It is a good size and you can actually get 4 or 5 mugs of coffee from this pot. There is a green light to let you know it has started perking and a red light to let you know it is done. It is a very nice shape with a wide bottom instead of a bulge in the middle. The handle is also comfortable and easy to hold. The basket on this pot is the best I have used. The grounds stay in the basket instead of getting into the coffee even though I buy normal ground coffee generally meant for cafetieres. If the quality of the electrics is as good as the rest of the pot I expect it to last 10 years or longer, which is a bonus for me. I am tired of buying pots that do the job but pack up in 3 - 5 years because the manufacturers think everyone likes throwing things away and buying new.

This pot was cheaper than the other brand I found. It is also larger and to my mind looks nicer. I would encourage anyone to buy this percolator.

i bought this Elgento percolator because of its size, appearance and lastly price.I received it in double quick time.Bought some Colombian ground coffee a few days later and brewed my first cups. the coffee was a medium grade but even so i found it a little strong. My second brew i measured with my wifes measuring spoons which i scraped level.. i level spoon for each cup...the result was superb..The Elgento makes coffee very quickly and keeps it hot as long as neccessary, is very easy to clean and looks GREAT. I had been searching for a percolator for several years. I find filtered coffee bland and French presses give out cold, "crunchy" coffee.

I have en excellent stove-top perc, but the need to stand and babysit while I'm trying to accomplish other food preparation at the same time is a serious handicap. I did purchase a Dualit, which appears to be the only other readily available electric perc machine. However, the filter basket is so ridiculously small that it is almost impossible to get a strong cup of coffee without making serious concessions on quantity and having a problem fitting the lid over the grounds.

The overwhelmingly positive reviews on the Elgento swayed me to try it. I'm glad I did! This is a great pot. The coffee is STRONG and tastes like coffee! I did have to reduce the amount of ground coffee that I use, because it makes a much stronger, fuller-bodied cup with less coffee. That's only a plus, as it will mean I'm saving money and running out less.

Bravo, Elgento! I guess I'm going to have to find a new home for that Dualit in our guest flat!

This coffee percolator has proved to be great - producing piping hot fresh coffee in absolutely no time at all and with little fuss, much faster than a filter coffee maker. It makes up to 12 cups (= 6 mugs) and has graduations for coffee and water. We've not been disappointed with the flavour, and a major benefit is that it produces far more consistent results than drip-filter coffee. The coffee also stays piping hot for a surprisingly long time.

It is generally easy and convenient to use, pours and handles well and our only regret is that we wish we'd bought one years ago. Best use "cafetiere" ground coffee or grind your own on the coarsest setting to ensure that the stainless steel filter basket doesn't leak fine coffee grinds. It has a swivel 'cordless' base like many kettles. The stainless steel innards can go in the dishwasher. We can't fault it - it's highly recommended and you won't be disappointed!

As a student in the late sixties, I was impressed by a 'sophisticated friend' who owned a coffee percolator and many jazz records. The coffee tasted so much better than Nescafe or my dad's favourite Camp....truly yuch!

This percolator a birthday present is a touch of nostalgia. The coffee is really good and as other coffee lovers have said unlike filter coffee this percolator makes hot coffee which is mellow. There is also the added bonus of the percolator keeping your coffee warm once made.

I haven't had a problem with grounds ending up in my cup as yet. The percolator handled the pre-ground Grumpy Mule coffee well.

The percolator is tall ....slightly over 12 inches and sits on a seperate base as my kettle does. It is a quality product

After looking at modern coffee makers, I decided on this Percolator as I did not want a bulky item taking too much room up on my worktop, and as this is more like the size of a kettle, just a bit taller, it is perfect. I remembered a friend recommending Percolators years ago but could not find one in local shops so Amazon was the place to look. It looks classy, all stainless steel inside and out. Have read some reviews about coffee sediment seeping through the basket, but have not found this a problem. I like to grind my coffee beans fine as I think you get more flavour that way, and if as it says in the directions you run the stainless steel coffee basket under the cold tap first, or as I do, leave it sat in the Percolator and pour the amount of cold water you want to make the right amount of coffee, through the basket with the cups you are going to use. Then put the grounded beans in the basket and you get great coffee. You hardly get any sediment that way and certainly no more than you would get in a coffee shop. Highly Recommended.
