4.0 out of 5 stars Good selection of Elgar rarities 11 Jan 2014
Format:Audio CD
Bostock and the Munich Symphony forces offer an enjoyable selection of Elgar rarities. It starts with the Crown of India, which is Elgar in his patriotic/bombastic mood, but includes some other great rarities including the slow movement of a piano concerto (Op 90) in a version realised by Percy Young (there are other working versions that have been published). Peter Hall is the spoken narrator on some tracks and is rather recessed, but that means that the words don't get too much in the way of the music.

It may help to know that this CD is also available as part of a Classico 10 CD set that is usually available on Amazon for considerably less than the cost of the single CD!
