Product Description

Elfie Hopkins, a 22 year-old animal-loving slacker, stoner, and wannabe detective, lives in a sleepy hunting village. Haunted by the death of her mother, Elfie seeks solace and inspiration from the old school detectives in The Maltese Falcon and Chinatown. She entertains herself, along with her geeky best friend, Dylan, by investigating the villagers and upsetting everyone with their imaginative allegations. Things get serious however with the arrival of a family of trendy city dwellers, the Gammons, who weave seductive tales of adventure and entice the villagers with offers of exotic hunting holidays around the world. Despite not being immune to the Gammons charms, Elfie soon smells a rat, and snaps into full detective mode. Her mundane existence is about to be blown apart. Blood quickly starts to spill in the village, and it s no longer just the blood of animals. Elfie discovers the villagers are not making those flights and when she finally uncovers the truth, it s darker than she could ever have imagined...

3.0 out of 5 stars Misleading cover 22 Feb 2013
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
Based on the artwork I expected this to be a medieval monster hunter film. Actually it's a sort of Brit Disturbia. Elfie and her bud Parker are stoners who want to be detectives. When a new family moves next door to Elfie she thinks they have their first chance at a real case. Since this new family looks as if they wandered straight off the set of a Tim Burton movie and disappearances spike wherever they move, it's very likely that she is right. The early scenes of Elfie and Parker getting stoned and being buddies and conducting their investigation work pretty well. When you find out what the neighbors actually are the movie runs into trouble because it never finds the proper tone for the suddenly violent scenes. Is Elfie Hopkins a horror movie? A thriller? A comedy? After watching it I couldn't really tell you. This is worth a look but I would make it a rental.

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointed 23 Aug 2012
By Gaz
Format:Blu-ray|Amazon Verified Purchase
I was quite excited about this title. I read the comparisons to "Sleepy Hollow" and "Sweeney Todd" on the cover, but I have to be honest I see no similarities whatsoever. The worst part of the movie has to be the Ray Winstone's daughter playing Elfie.............this is the most glaring case of miscasting I have ever seen. The only bright spot, is the gore is quite well done!!!! I'm sad to say that other than that it comes across as amateurish with the most annoying lead actress I have seen in some time.

2.0 out of 5 stars REGION 1 APPEARS UNCUT 11 May 2013
Format:DVD
This comes across as a meaty Midsomer Murder mystery for teenagers. It's pretty lame really but get the region 1 as it's uncut. The uk version is cut by a few seconds but a cut's a cut, just make sure your player is multi region.

Awful movie, no redeeming features, I would respectfully suggest 'Gary' works for or is affiliated to 'Black & Blue Studios' the makers.
