Format: Audio CD
One of my favourite albums. I've listened to this album for fifteen years and every time I think that it should have been enjoyed by many more people when it was released.

The whole feeling of these songs is of knotting together and falling apart over and over again. I especially like "Power Failure" and "Bell" - real slow burners. The first sounds positively catastrophic in its rising and falling final minutes. "Bell" is deceptively simple, but I love the way this song crashes along, breaking into more reflective parts before juddering to a halt.

The rhythm section of Come has been sometimes criticised for being lumpy and lacking sensitivity - I totally disagree. In my opinion it's some of the best stuff rock has ever produced: powerful, accurate and intense. "William" twists from 4/4 to waltz without losing any impetus, and when Zadek's howling is added over the top the whole thing takes off. Then there's the weird blues of "Brand New Vein", which has a drawn out section from four minutes in that builds and builds before a feedback squeel slides in - it's just fantastic. I haven't even mentioned "Off to One Side" or "Fast Piss Blues", perhaps the best songs of a criminally unknown album.

Harsh, grating, exhilirating 1 Jun. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
The band that Hole strives for. Thalia Zedek's dark vocals never strain for effect but echo the desperation of the lyrics perfectly. Chris Brokaw's guitar playing is perfect - the way it just falls out from the wall of sound in "Sad Eyes" is stunning. And the Johnston/O'Brien rhythm section nails the stop/start time of the songs to bracing effect

Best Record of the 1990's 20 Dec. 1999
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD Verified Purchase
I believe this was the best record produced of any sort in the decade of the 1990's. There is no more perfect music to listen to. I can't add any words that the reviewers have not already used... raw... beautiful... intense. Drawn from the Rock and Blues aesthetics... perfected. Buy it now.

tortured, desperate, like drowning 17 Feb. 2007
By Thomas W. Yates - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
the first time i listened to the come sub pop 7", i thought they pressed it at the wrong speed.

couple other descriptions:

1. this record feels like sleep paralysis

2. this record feels like when you are dreaming, and you go to hit someone, but you cant because your arms weigh 10 million pounds.

like the other reviewers said, this is one of the best records of the 90's. totally overlooked by everybody. you should definitely check this out, you wont be disappopinted.

Feel the pain 5 May 2005
By korova - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
Eleven:Eleven is an amazing album. Every song is a dark and intense stew of hellish blues, relentlessly driven by an aggressive double-guitar attack---all anchored by a rhythm section capable of starting and stopping on a dime.

If that doesn't work for you try this: it's what would have happened if Pink Floyd recorded Animals on heroin instead of acid.

If it's not available here, try to get it from Matador directly or from your local used music shop. Definitely worth the effort of seeking it out.

One of the great albums of the 90's 5 May 2005
By David Rutherford - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Audio CD
It's criminal that this band has been, largely, overlooked. Ex Live Skull Thalia Zadek teams up with the then Codeine drummer Chris Brokaw to produce a shimmering hell-blues wall-of-noise that has a physical impact on the listener.

Zadek's 2 pack 'o Marlboro's a day vocals rasp away in perfect tune with the shard-like intensity of Brokaw's guitar work. Zadek's vocals on 'Sad Eyes' are jaw dropping, and it's not the only stunner on the album either.

This is highly recommended mid-90's alternative music.
