It's a great buy!

The construction is ok for what they are, although, I would be worried if I dropped a receiver on a concrete floor with the batteries in them.

There is also a cable to connect the main tranmitter to the camera instead of the hot shoe (if you need the camera hot shoe to hold another flash perhaps) Each receiver has a male hot shoe mount on the bottom as well (not shown in the picture) so it can be fitted to a flash gun foot or other photography equipment with hot shoe adapters.

I bought the 3 receiver version as I have a few really old flash guns laying around (has no swivel/tilt or even a bounce card - really old). I have used them as a slave flash but it always needs the line of sight with the master flash and its not always possible with different lighting setups. These puppies now fire every time and has saved me a fair few pennies as I dont have to buy newer models flash guns!

It's definitely worth it - I wanted to get used to these before I invested in the Pocketwizard, but after a few days with it I cant see myself forking out an extra £280 for something that does essentially the same thing (I'm sure the pocketwizard does alot more advanced stuff) All i need is for all my flash guns to fire at the same time and it works like a charm!

I've simply added this review to keep up the deserved rating. Nothing to add to what has been said by others other than a comment on my equipment, which might interest some. (But as an aside I didn't bother to read the manual - just glimpsed and best described as quaint. Setting up was completely intuitive - just make sure that the DIP switches are all identically set). I recently acquired a Lumix DMC-GH2 (Micro 4/3) which has given a new lease of life to all of my old manual lenses and, courtesy of these wireless triggers, I have now given new life to my old Canon Speedlights and other (ancient) flashguns. Interestingly I get decent results with a high speed shutter (tried up to 1/160 so far). Lots more experiments and fun to go!

I was looking for a set of triggers for 2 YONGNUO YN460 Speedlites and my Cannon 430exii. These work like a charm and don't miss a beat. They build quality is okay but the battery doors on the back of triggers are not too good and can slip out easily in the hand. Other than that brilliant for price and portability small studio lighting.

These PT-04 units are great. Slide a receiver on to a normal speedlite, fit the transmitter onto the camera hotshoe, and you can use flash off camera, pretty much anywhere-behind the sofa, in the garden, up trees, etc. They open up a whole lot of new photographic opportunities. There are other cheap units out there that are very unreliable. I got caught out with some from JJC that were rubbish. Buy these and you won't regret it.

For this money, this is a great set of remote triggers. The only drawback with my hotshoe flashes (Canon 580 EXII and Metz 54 mz3) is that it doesnt wake them if I didnt shoot for several minutes. Maybe it's flash specific or I still have to find a simple sollution i'm overlooking atm.
They feel sturdy enough to last some time and I don't see any flaws in the design.

I had the cactus version of this before .

The build quality of the pt-04 much better you can lock flashes to triggers , i have sb600,sb900 and an old hanimex, fitted to a nikon d300s all work perfectly well in manual settings ,just change the power individually depending on your shoot.

Range ,I have used 2 triggers in forest doing portrait full length. Distance 30ft no problem,I havnt used them further yet.

I would highly recommend them .Great for macro work.

This kit was great value and so far has worked faultlessly. It is fine with my Yongnuo manual flashes but I was unable to get it to trigger my old Vivitar 385 flash (which is still in working order after 30 years). It did work with a smaller similarly aged vivitar flash though. I would recommend this product.

I thought that as i cant afford the more expensive ones these might just do the job even if they dont last. Low and behold they are fantastic. I am a pro portrait photographer and have used pocket wizard triggers until it packed up. As i could not afford to buy a new oner i looked for a cheaper unit as i need for for my studio urgently and so far have been superb. In fact i may not bother with another more expensive unit.
Hope they last.
