Elephant dung photo album gift - recycled fair trade eco friendly. The Ultimate in handmade or elephant made paper! The process of making paper is the same all over the world but this paper is a little different! The fibres are pulped by the elephant, instead of by hand or machine, whilst digesting, then comes out the back! The dung is collected then vigourously boiled with margosa leaves, which are a natural disinfectant, then made into paper after mixing with 25% recycled paper. The coarseness and shade of the paper is entirely dependent on the elephants diet making each sheet unique. We source or paper from the Maximus Elephant Conservation Trust in Sri Lanka, they have their workshop on the grounds of the Millennium Elephant Foundation which is a charity that cares for sick and disabled elephants. We are promoting this paper as the more people buy, the more we order, the more money the elephants get. We are helping to educate rural villages that are plagued by elephant eating crops, after their natural habitats have been taken over by humans, to see elephants as a form of income and not just as a pest. The villagers gt paid for collecting dung therefore giving them a reason to live with rather than against the elephants.By buying this product you can give yourself a pat on the back as you are helping to preserve the lives of these majestic creatures.
