'You are walking into the jaws of death'

Hal and Roger Hunt are on an awesome African adventure to track down the rare great white elephant. The brothers coolly tackle their task - despite doom-laden prophecies from mumbo, a Watussi chieftain - and as the temperature rises . . . the danger-level intensifies.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another cracking adventure with the Hunts 1 Aug 2012
By Gareth Wilson - Falcata Times Blog TOP 500 REVIEWER VINE VOICE
As we return to Africa for this offering, the reader will be glued as the two lead characters seek to fulfil their fathers list for animals. There's a whole lot of things happening within the pages and of course you really can't help but get wrapped up in the adventure as they use ingenuity alongside bravery to achieve thier goals.

As with Willard's other books, it wonderfully written with the country being the leading star which has taken many readers over the years on their own safari's within the imagination. Back that up with an obvious love for travel and seeing the unusual and all in it's a satisfying read. Magic.

If you have any feeling for animals avoid this at all costs! Even the detail of the vegetation is inaccurate! Giant lobelia and groundsel and the huge moss yes - but giant pansies? I do not think so! The cruelty in the book is condemned but there is no mention in the forward that this was pre Cites although it does say that the racial attitudes are those of a previous age. Not something that I would want a 21st century child to read.
