Product Description

Electronics: Principles and Applications introduces principles and applications of analog devices, circuits and systems. Like earlier editions, the Sixth Edition combines theory with real world applications in a well-paced sequence that introduces students to such topics as semiconductors,op amps, linear integrated circuits, and switching power supplies. Its purpose is to prepare students to effectively diagnose, repair, verify, and install electronic circuits and systems. Prerequisites are a command of algebra and an understanding of fundamental electrical concepts. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

From the Publisher

New information about transistors as switches, switch-mode amplifiers, direct digital synthesis, and digital signal processing.
Plentiful, worked-out examples, tests, performance objectives, and critical thinking questions reinforce and enhance key concepts.
Key terms highlighted as margin features enhance student comprehension. Other margin features extend learning and provide practical tips for job seekers.
Experiments Manual contains nearly 40 experiments and correlates with the text. It helps students gain practical, hands-on experiences to reinforce subject matter and develop troubleshooting skills. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

Excellent Introduction 4 Jan 2010
By James T. Houx - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I decided to get into electricity and green energy. When I started running into technical problems that required me to design my own circuit boards, I knew I had better get a fundamental education in electronics. I've always been self-taught by reading books and tutorials from experts and avoiding the expense of schooling. Its gotten me far in life. This book gave me a tremendous amount of useful information and a fantastic foundation about the basic elements of circuit design and their components. There are also superb explanations about the internal mechanics of various components, including how diodes work. I haven't read other books in this field yet, but I'm quite impressed with the presentation and breadth of information in this one. I found out about it because it was recommended by this guy: [...]

To make sure I was prepared for this book, I purchased the precursor book on Electricity. I thought it was outstanding. I found it to be simple, clear and a breadth of information. You can tell its dumbed down a bit -- not written to expect you to have high-level physics and calculus comprehension -- but it still makes use of some basic physics principles.
