If you're starting out with a new outlook on Electronics then this book is perfect for you.

There is an asumption that anyone who reads this book will be fairly good at maths as well. If you're not good with numbers, then give this one a miss.

There are aspects of this book that goes a little ahead of the novice like myself and didn't understand some topics discussed i.e. Filters but apart from that I understood 95 percent of what I read.

If there's one recommendation I would make it would be to have more illustrations and pictures. You can never have too many diagrams and pictures in a novice reading book like this!

This book also describes in detail about electrons, and the flow of electrons - but don't worry if you don't know what that means... the book explains it very well.

A very well put together book. Anyone who wants to buy this book though, needs to be prepared for a little more expense if you want to be involved in the projects at the back of this book.

I bought this book to brush up on my basics as I'm training as a mechanical engineer, but this book goes so much further than that, without ever becoming over-complicated. It covers every aspect of electronics and even shows you good application of your new found knowledge. I would recommend this for anybody who needs a guide on any part of basic electronics right up to the more complicated theory and circuit diagrams.

After a working life which had occasionally involved me with electronics at a level which hadn't demanded too deep an understanding of the design principles, I was looking for a book that would let me now get involved as a hobbyist, allowing me to modify existing published circuits, or hopefully, to even design my own. I've usually found the Dummies series of books to be very well written and comprehensive enough, and this one hasn't disappointed me in any way.

It's an excellent introduction to the subject, or as an aid to clarifying the details of what you already (nearly) know. Its style doesn't demand too much, unlike many other books on electronics that I have looked at, and one or two that I actually own. It's easy to read, and the explanations of what can be quite complex principles are as clear as they can be, I think. The book doesn't skim over too much of the detail, and when it needs to it warns that further detail exists, but is beyond its scope.

Introductions to the principles for making design calculations may seem intrusive to some readers, but is necessary to know about if you want to design even the simplest circuits and have them work after you build them. If you just want to understand the principles, detailed understanding of the equations can be skipped unless/until you need them. Good value. Recommended.
