FIRST ALARM KEYPAD Alarm System Easy to install, No Wiring Mount the alarm unit to a wall or door using screw provided and key hole opening on the back of the alarm. Remove the double-sided adhesive tape from the back of the Magnet until that is attatched to the alarm unit by wire. Mount it to the left or right hand side of the alarm unit, depending on the way the door opens. Remove the double-sided adhesive from the back of the second magnet and attatch making sure the arrows are pointing towards the Unit. There are 3 settings you can choose... Chime When a intruder attemps to enter your home, shed or garage a chime will announce the presence. The Chime setting can be used to warn you that a child has opened a door. Instant This mode is used to protect you when you are at home. When the switch is in the instant position, If the door is opened the alarm will sound a 110 db alarm siren. The alerm will sto[p once you enter the security code you have set yourself. Delay This mode is used when you are leaving your home. When the switch is in the Delay position, If a door is opened, you have 10 seconds to disarm the unit. If the unit is not disarmed the alarm will sound a 110 db alarm siren. The alarm will stop once you enter your security number. The First Alarm Keypad system comes complete with Keypad, Hardware, Double-sided adhesive tape and instructions.

Worked as expected and for the price pretty good value. The magnet in the reed swich has to be very close to the switch for it to work properly, The the figure the instructions give is I think 10mm, but thats far to ambitious and optomistic for these devices. I bought 2 for 2 sheds and both need the reed switch and magnet as close as possible to each other, almost touching in fact, certainly within 5mm.

Its easy to set your own code, which is just as well as it will need to be reset everytime you change the batteries. It doesn't memorise your code if it loses power.

I find when I go into the shed it bleeps telling me to put my code in which is fine. but when I close the door again it automatically re-arms itself, so opening the door again will mean the code will need re-entering again. I am not sure of this idea myself. I think it would be better if the code disarmed the alarm altogeter and then entering the code again arms it.

Though the alarm can be set to chime I suppose so that you don't keep having to enter the code when you are working in the shed unless you leave the door open of course.

On the whole though I am happy with the devices for the price I may eventually incorperate the house alarm though to cover the shed that is not made out of steel.
