Euro 2008 30 April 2008
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun:
I had mixed expectations about this game. Coming from the makers of FIFA, I was expecting good gameplay, good graphics and real kits and player names. However, given that EA didn't take too much care with Euro 2004 or World Cup 2006, I thought this may be the same.
Well, the gameplay is good, but more like Pro Evo than FIFA. But this isn't a bad thing, FIFA fans. You cannot score from 40 yards as easily as on FIFA, but you're encouraged to pass the ball and try to score. Long balls are more accurate, as are through balls. The gameplay takes a bit of getting used to, however.
As for the graphics, they are a little better than even FIFA 08. The players' faces are very lifelike, and the manager shots are interesting, yet could be better.
One downside is that some kits and player names are fake. For instance, Macedonia and Wales' kits are unreal, and Andorra have a player named 'Andorra'.
Again, it seems as if EA are more concerned about the FIFA series than this, but, all in all, it's a lot better than expected. A pleasant surprise.

Well it's been a long time coming, i have been an avid Pro Evo fan for years, i've had every installment of the game, including PES 2008, which has really let the title as a whole down - which has already been very well documented.

EA never really was on a patch compared to the fluidity of Pro Evo, but FIFA 08 seemed to turn a corner, yet i still didn't buy it. Then came along the demo of UEFA 2008, which i thought was awesome so i went out and bought the full game.

Immediately the difference between Pro Evo and Uefa 2008 is recognised. Pro Evo has poor graphics, sluggisg (at times) game play, and a general rushed feeling, including it's typical awful sound track. Uefa boots up and is immediately slick sounding and looking. The gameplay generally follows suit, i still think PES is slightly more creative, but Uefa just has it all for me, good gameplay, quality graphics and commentary and a decent soundtrack.

Definately recommended

Not sure yet 19 April 2008
Platform for Display:PLAYSTATION 3
Fun:
Until Fifa 2008, I was totally pro evo. Fifa 2008 won that battle hands down and i've been a avid Fifa player. I was keen to try the Euro 2008, because I was sure the tweaks would even further improve the game, but now i'm not sure.
The game seems more juddery. The animations seem to actually get in the way and manager animations and celebration option seem quite pointless. The players don't seem as fluid either. Watch Shaun Wright-Philips stroll up the wing. His legs look like 'The Ant Hill Mob' on speed [that's for older readers]. The weather conditions seem last generation and scoring seems far easier. In two qualifying games, Michael Owen scored 9 times - not exactly realism! The menus appear tacky and some of the stats which automatically appear are a bit annoying.
Having said all that, it's still early days and I may just be struggling with the transition. I'm sure the game will be fun and EA should be congratulated on not simply adding more international teams, but are clearly trying out some improvements for the next edition.
To the last reviewer, who clearly failed to grasp the concept of Euro 2008, I obviously would love to see my beloved Hull City in Europe, but not in a competition for international teams. If this is not what you wanted, swap it for Fifa 2008, you certainly won't be disappointed.
