Brilliant,

12 levels, gradually increasing in difficulty, give you the skills needed to maintain your hospital. You gradually increase the profitability of your hospitals until you have a super operation. The hiring, and firing, of staff is good fun whilst the building of rooms and placement of corridor objects is also enjoyable. You will never manage to stop playing this game as you will never achieve the perfect hospital. You find yourself trying to replace rooms in order to increase efficieny and profitability.Downsides are few but there are a couple. The loading times, especially on the later levels, are very long - but don't give up and reset the console! Also the levels do feel a bit samey later on, but as you get more involved in the level each hospital becomes more unique. Frustrating, but clever, strategic fun.

If like me you like these strategic games then this is the game for you. I have to admit I cheated and skipped a couple of the levels as they were so frustrating. Many times I would scream at the screen to move the things were I wanted. Plus the middle to late levels take so long.Definately a fantastic upgrade to Theme Park & World. Graphics, effects and sounds excellent.

If you have played Theme Park, which was made by the same company, the gameplay of Theme Hospital will be familiar to you. You build different types of hospital rooms , hire and fire staff and then cater for the needs of patients with various wacky diseases, all whilst keeping an eye on your bank balance.
The game is comprised of several levels, getting harder as you progress. New diseases arrive, staff get more stressed and the queue of patients gets longer. You have to pass certain goals in order to progress to the next level. This is quite boring once you have had enough of watching the funny-looking patients and strange treatments. This being a PS1 game, the graphics aren't great but the sound effects are amusing, particularly those from a patient using the toilet! Another issue with it being for Playstation 1 is that I have encountered slowdowns, occasional crashes and glitches when playing it on my PS2. Since there aren't many games of this genre around any more, I would recommend Theme Hospital to fans of Theme Park and Sim City.
