Im sorry....i'll start by addressing the few people who may actually like this game. Now that the pleasantries are out of the way, I can begin to tell you how poor this game really is.Let mne take you back to the very first Ridge Racer, it was an excellent arcade racing experience, fast, gorgeous to look at, and the home conversion was almost perfect in everyway. This tradition of being a fantastic game to look at and superbly fast and fun was continued from Ridge Racer Revolution into Rage Racer and even R.R4, when R5 appeared at the begining of the PS2's life cycle the formula was begining to look tired, appart from the fact that R5 didnt really wow us with it's graphic's the game had gradually been getting slower and slower in pace, which brings me onto the most recent itteration of this game, R:RACING!! it is a cross between TOCA Touring car and Driving Miss Daisy, it features quite an interesting story to back up the main racinbg mode of play, it's just the fact that it is so easy and not to mention plain boring and slow to play. I have rented the title this evening, and already have finnished the main game, although there are extra settings to play through I wont even entertain the idea, I only finnished it because I had payed money to rent it, and I still feel like I have been robbed. If anyone is thinking of purchaseing this game I would strongly recomend that you rent it first, I am a die hard Ridge Racer fan and own all home formats including the N64 version and a Jap PSP Ridge Racers ( which is fantastic!) but I will most definately NOT be adding this to my collection, even if someone gave it to me for free. Namco, please dont try and catter for other groups of gamers, thats what other companies do, just do what you do best and make games that go like they are sniffing NOS!!

This is the best game since sliced bread! I think it's much better than the Gran turismo series! Your character is Rena she is a former ambulance driver who gets spotted by Stephan Garnier of Garnier Racing who is with her on her shift in the ambulance (this is due to her racing style of driving in the ambulance). He then gives her a chance to race for Garnier racing for the chance to become the worlds best racing driver. Rena has some tough opposition & this comes in the form of the stunningly beautiful Gina Cavalli. Gina goes all out to give Rena a difficult time & all you have to do is get first place in every race to beat Gina. Good luck you'll certainly need it!There are several immersive modes of play & these are: racing life: in racing life you will get the chance to compete in various races with several classes of cars & your main aim is to come in first place. Racing life is split up into 14 chapters with a story mode running through it to make it sound more convincing, which it does so brilliantly each chapter ending with a well executed movie. The next mode is: event mode whereby you can tune/buy cars which you have won by getting your reward points (RP) during each race/challenge you've completed sucessfully. You can buy cars from the car dealer using your reward points. The more points you amass the more cars you can buy/tune! Tuning cars is easy with the performance shop you just select the car you want to tune & select the various changes you'd like to be made to your car then your car will then be tuned up! There is also the ability to buy races with your RP & race these races with the cars you've purchased to earn even more RP! The styles of races are the following: single race, time trial, one-make race, tour race, VS rival, tournament & extra. Other modes avialable are: Arcade: where you can race with cars from all the classes & all are unlocked! You can also choose any track to race on as these too are unlocked! You can now race until your hearts content! Time attack: racing against the clock in any car you like & on any track you like! VS: race your mates! all cars & tracks are unlocked! Another useful feature is the garage: here you can view your car collection, replays or movies which you have unlocked during the game! options: adjust controller settings, car setups, brake assist level, ABS, TCS, sound levels & screen adjustments. cool & quirky features of the game: brake assist is excellent when it is enabled because you'll hardly need to brake around corners as the computer does does the braking for you! pressure meter: this is the best aspect of the game as there is a pressure meter above the car in front of you & depending on the amount of pressure you put on them (the mter fills up from blue to red & when it gets to flashing red the driver in front will make a mistake!) you will cause the driver to make slip-up & mistakes thus letting you past with ease leaving them in the dust behind you! WELL DONE, NAMCO!!!
