Manufacturer's Description

Go weapons-hot in a fully immersive sci-fi epic that reacts to every decision you make.

Not everyone will survive. An ancient alien race, known only as “Reapers”, has launched an all-out invasion leaving nothing but a trail of destruction in their wake. Earth has been taken, the galaxy is on the verge of total annihilation, and you are the only one who can stop them. The price of failure is extinction. You are Commander Shepard, a character that you can forge in your own image. You determine how events will play out, which planets to explore, and whom to form alliances with as you rally a force to eliminate the Reaper threat once and for all. How you wage this war is completely up to you: go into combat with guns blazing or use cover to plan a more tactical assault. Utilize your squad to full effect or take a lone wolf approach. Rain death from a distance or go toe–to-toe with enemies using devastating melee attacks. Mass Effect 3 will react to each decision you make as you play through a truly unique experience of your own creation.

Features:

  • A rich, branching storyline: Experience a sci-fi epic with multiple endings determined by your choices and actions throughout the game.
  • Massive in scope: Battle on many worlds across the galaxy as you unite the ultimate force to take back the Earth before it’s too late.
  • Large-scale and intelligent enemies: Battle enormous enemies and take on a smarter type of foe that will consistently challenge your best combat tactics and put you on the edge of your seat.
  • Unlock a customizable arsenal: Tailor each weapon with devastating upgrades including scopes, grips, barrels and dozens of other unique attachments. Each weapon boasts its own powerful impact and visual flair.
  • Unleash death from afar or go toe-to-toe: Customize your soldier and squad to engage the enemy on your terms. A huge variety of weapons, abilities and equipment allow you to combat the enemy in your preferred style of play.

I have played all three mass effect games and i am and forever will be a huge fan of the series. You have probably read countless reviews for this game and have heard a lot of positive things and unfortunately some negative regarding the ending and the glitches, we will get to the negative lets start from the positives.

Mass effect 3 is a cracking game, those of you who have played the previous games will love the way ME3 feels in combat because its a lot smoother and a lot more movement is required from cover to cover in this game as compared to the previous two titles. The weapons are very good in this game and i think what takes this to the next level is how you can costumize each weapon to suit your needs for example you can put on a scope if you are struggling with accuracy, there are many more on the list. The graphics at times are stunning and the background designs are fantastic, they really suck you in the environment such as the rubble filled London near the end of the game you can tell the attention to detail is very good. But on that note lets get to the negatives.

Taking my last phrase from my previous paragraph "attention to detail" well unfortunately this is not shown in every part of the game, there are plenty of texture pop ins although they don't totally ruin the game its disappointing to see such things in a massive game release as ME3. This however is not the worst thing when i first put in my game 20 minutes into it the game froze on me and i had to reset the computer and after another 20 mins it froze on me again, and i feared the worst, however thankfully it did not happen again but as i said this is disappointing to see in a blockbuster release like ME3.
The story well i did not feel as hooked into the game as i did when i played Mass effect 2 and for the record in my opinion i believe mass effect 2 is one of the greatest games released to date and ME3 had a hard job to top that.
But one of the worst things about the game is that it does not feel like a RPG game this title has tilted toward an action game which is a shame, and i understand bioware wanting to increase there fan base but its a let down to be honest, a bit of advice to bioware cater to your devoted fans.
Now to the ending well im not going to spoil anything for anyone but i am giving you a heads up that near the end of the game you have to do something in order to see an ending in my play through my Shepard was a paragon in all three games but near the end of mass effect 3 i have to do something that a renegade would do in order to move on in the game otherwise its game over that is shocking to say the least because the key phrase is HAVE TO this series takes pride in giving the players the freedom of choice and now a player IS FORCED TO DO SOMETHING bioware messed that up big time, take note though that this might not happen in your play through. Continuing on the ending i call it the Quadruple D DISAPPOINTING, DISTASTEFUL,DISGRUNTLING and DISSATISFYING. It seems bioware rushed the ending without really explaining anything in great detail, which is a shocker or is it all in a master plan that we will see in a new trilogy, time will tell for now they have to deal with the thousands and thousands of fans who are outraged by what is a poor ending to a legendary series. End of trilogies are tough but this is as bad as the matrix revolution.

For the guys and girls who do not understand what the whole uproar has been about over the ending of this game well let me just say that mass effect is a universe that hooks you in, its a game where you want to play to see how your decisions will have an affect in the future. I have to say that the mass effect fan base is huge but more so the mass effect community is one if the most passionate gaming communities out there that's why there has been an uproar because the ending is not good enough to meet with the high standards that the series has set.

In conclusion new comers to the game will enjoy this game as an action shooter i would not recommend playing this game without playing the other 2 if you dont have an xbox 360 then at least play part 2 before this however you WILL BE UPSET about the ending mark my words.

For the first time i will not give a number rating for this game because its difficult to, i will just say its a shame that my last memory of the series is not as good as my first. Damn shame!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mass effect 2 was such a brilliant game and this game is a major let down as a sequal, this game makes all the decisions you choose in the previous game worthless. I was so looking forward to seeing how previous decisions would play out and they have really let everyone down with this game.

As a huge fan of the mass effect trilogy I was excited about playing the new edition, and to be entirely fair to Bioware, there is much in this game that delivers, however there is also much that lets it down, and shattered my enjoyment for the title.

The good: The gameplay is more fluid than the previous titles, and whilst keeping some of the more important aspects has added new dimensions such as jumping that make the game a more enjoyable experience. Much of the storyline is fantastic, seeing old and new faces, as well as old and new locations made the game enjoyable from the get go, never before have I wanted to shed a tear over a video game, nor felt proud of a character within one, but this game made me feel both of these emotions no matter how hard I tried not to! of course as a fan who has played since the start you're always going to have niggles, but even these were few and far between.

The DLC 'from ashes' was also very enjoyable and well worth the extra money I paid for it, it added a whole new dimension in the game and perspective of the galaxy.

Also, as someone who generally isn't very good at shooter games, and has never previously touched online gameplay, I found this element very enjoyable, with how it ties into the main game without being a direct part being an added bonus.

The bad: There were a large amount of glitches in the game, the worst of which rendered much of the first section of my game unplayable as I could not access an entire area, as everytime I tried to do so my ps3 crashed, which meant starting it back up and waiting for it to check there were no issues.

The ugly: The worst part of this game, and most of the reason for the 3 stars is because Bioware took a formula that I love and abandoned it at the last moment, the ending of this game is appauling, and it seems the more time goes by since my colour coded ending, the more questions I get. Never before have I come across such an appauling end to any series, I have more questions than answers and certainly more than when I went into the game, as well as an overwhelming feeling of dissapointment.

I won't say don't buy it, as for the most part Bioware should be proud, once again they've outdone themselves in my eyes and delivered another fantastic game, but I will say be prepared to feel dissapointed by your lack of involvement in the end, and maybe wait until there is confirmation that the glitches have been fixed.
