Amazon.co.uk Review

EA's Madden NFL 2003 maintains the series' status as one of the most engaging video-game franchises ever. This perennial favourite game has updated everything down to the spanking new venues (including Seattle Seahawks Stadium), and the ability to list pre-existing injuries to current players.

If you haven't played any previous versions of the game, learning all the controls can be a daunting task, since you can control everything from calling audibles to throwing a touch or bullet pass--all while the play clock is running. But half the fun of this game is in the level of detail you can control, including off-season drafts and free-agent signings, game time weather and sensitivity to penalties.

Madden NFL 2003 has really taken video sports gameplay beyond the action on the field (though the play is seamless and the graphics impressive on the Xbox), they've created a world where you are equally the owner, general manager, coach and player. The time and attention you must dedicate to creating your team, along with the superbly realistic play and sportscasting of the game, thoroughly involve you in the fate of your team, making the action all the more immersive and compelling. --Sung Nicholas Kim, Amazon.com

5.0 out of 5 stars Staggering, 11 Oct 2002

Ill be straight, I had never played or seen an NFL game in my life. I bought the game because of its acclaim and now I love NFL. I have always been a real sports fan but this is one of my faves, and I owe it all to Madden.
The game is simply amazing. The mini camp mode is brilliant as it gets you to terms with the extreamly complex rules (don't let that put you off)but one you understand it there is much to enjoy. The graphics are mindblowing and you have got to do everything from choosing the correct plays and making sure nothing goes wrong.
The depth is overwhelming, form customising a game so the situation starts ex 1:00 min to go in the 4th, you are 21-19 down and you are on the offensive with 40 yards to gain.
That is not all, the franchise(season) is very realistic, its like Champ Man but you play as well (and the added plus of graphics) !!
As you can see the game is great, even for the NFL virgins, my advice is purchase this game and play it till the sun goes down before flicking over to watch the real thing.
Im now away to take on the Rams with the Claymores.
P.S look out for my name soon as I am being scouted by the Falcons (o/j) !!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just the best!, 8 Jan 2003

This review is from: Madden NFL 2003 (Xbox) (Video Game)
After playing American Football games ever since I owned a Spectrum I did not thinkthat the latest offering could improve on Madden 2002.

I bought the game for the new divisions that came in to play this year bit was simply blown away by the new depth to the game.

Create aplaybook and create a team are just huge aloowing you to create and mange your very own NFL franchise.

The game play is simple on the Xbox controller despite the new contoller S being pushed in the game manual withthe graphics and cut scenes being awesome.

I cannot recommend this game highly enough. If in doubt buy this as oppposed to Madden 2002.

I have been anticipating this release since I bought my Xbox a few months ago. The Madden NFL series has always been the most realistic in terms of gameplay, and now the graphics capabilities of the Xbox have further enhanced the game. The gang-tackling animations and detailed replays add supreme amounts of realism - the Mini Camps make practicing the game more challenging.

The gameplay is also spot-on, although if you find that certain aspects aren't to your liking these can be toggled in the menu section.

Not got a bad word to say about this game (Apart from the fact that the Bills still suck!). Go and buy!
