Reading the other reviews I have reached the conclusion that i am the only person who wants to play the game in career mode. I long ago reached my limited for online playing. For some reason i find the idea of playing against 12 year olds that spend 9 hours a day playing a little unappealing. The actual "playing" system, the control and action of players in a match, is very good but everything else seems to be half finished or broken. I'll just list my issues from this point.

Biggest issue first - Difficulty settings - I'm not one of the people that thinks the game is so hard it can't be played. I play on semi-pro most of time until i get a good team and then can just about handle pro. My problem is that when you change the setting up the opposition don't seem become more organised or more clinical finishers. The game just "cheats" against you. The ball will always make insane, likely impossible, bounces to fall to the oppositions feet. Opposition players suddenly have traits which are not present when you press R3 in man marking to look at player bios. You cannot tackle. If on the off chance you do you get booked. Your players seem to lose the ability to pass, shot or use skills. I'm also almost certain that there is pre-set scripts that force the opposition to score. You can spot them, probably if you have spent to much time playing, because the feel of the game changes completely, you're players become sluggish and the opposition suddenly become next to impossible to catch. Test this idea out yourselves, keep an eye out for it and intentionally foul someone and wait to see if the opposition score a great free-kick. The most annoying thing is when the game disregards its own rating system.

Whereas FIFA 10 was something of a 'refinement' for its predecessor, EA's latest outing has taken things to another level as pretty much all the gameplay has seen attention. As a package, FIFA 11 is, in short, the game I've been hoping for for many years. OK - It would be foolish to say its "perfect" (as is done almost every year), but it has taken everything that was great about '10, ditched everything that was annoying (such as the horrible dark menus) and consolidated it into a wonderful package that feels made for the football fan.

[+] New player animations leave behind the robotic feel of past FIFA games, differentiating every aspect of player movement; from jostling with other players, to the way they control balls under different kinds of pressure. Every player appears to have his own unique 'feel' on the ball, from their running style to the way they turn on the spot. You simply have to play it to understand what a more authentic experience this is.

[+] Distribution has been improved dramatically. Making contact with the ball looks more realistic (as is the follow through), but most importantly, the actual action see's the ball move about more life-like with bobbles and bends even on short passes. Whats more, the ball is no longer passed directly to the players feet at the pin-point centre; there is variation in how it travels and where it ends up. This means you can no longer 'ping-pong' the ball - more attention is required to placing passes. Players stretch and even control awkward balls with seemingly real energy. Players can even control the ball into different directions with fantastic variation, meaning one-twos require precision.

1.0 out of 5 stars Serious Freezing Problems 18 Oct 2010

Okay, this is a really good game - like the past couple of Fifas have been. It can be a little furstrating trying to score but it is a valiant attempt at making the experience as challenging and realistic as possible. BUT, and there is a big BUT....

..spend about 10 seconds searching on the internet and you will realise that this Fifa, on Ps3 in particular, freezes ALL THE TIME. Initially it might freeze for about 2 seconds (whilst accessing the hard drive) every other game - then it just gets worse. Mine is currently freezing many times a game.

No news from EA, no word of a solution - nothing.

My advice, stay well away until EA fix this - it just isn't worth the pain.

If you don't believe me, search 'Fifa 11 freezing' on the internet.

1.0 out of 5 stars More of the same with same bugs 23 Oct 2010

Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
This game is so disappointing due to having the same issues as EA's previous release Fifa10 and world cup (Its almost the same game as fifa world cup). The high pressure makes it very difficult to play the ball around resulting in many low scoring games, this is certainly the case when using manual controls. The standing tackle is still a standing tackle and should be changed to make the game more creative.

There was supposed to be personality+ in this game, however, I just don't see it. How can this be in the game when you see players such as John Terry/Robert Huth or division 2 defenders quicker thsn Aaron Lennon or Messi etc? Once you get passed a defender the attacker is drawn back to the defender for some reason.

The pro passing was supposed to be online, but it isn't.

The new stamina/fatigue system that was supposed to be introduced is no different to the old one.

The replay theatre is utterly pointless because you can only save 5 replays that are 11 seconds long. Also the match highlights show 10 highlights, but if you score towards the end of a game it misses the goal due to showing all other highlights from earlier in the game which means you miss the opportunity to save any good goals.

There are to many bugs in the game.

Its just the same old annual release of fifa we now get each year. I traded the game in I was so disappointed. No point buying the same game every year.
