Product Description

FIFA 11 reinvents player authenticity – on and off the ball – for every player and at every position on the pitch with Personality+, an all-new feature that sees individual abilities reflected in game, enabling clear differentiation for every player.

With Personality+ a footballer’s abilities on the pitch is mirrored authentically in game, creating individual personalities. Players will be distinguished from one another through a sophisticated database that evaluates and grades each player’s skill-set over 36 attributes and 57 traits, compiled by 1700 scouts around the world. Real Madrid’s Kaka will deliver crisp, creative passes, Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta will utilize tighter turns and close control to dribble through defenses, Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney will hold off defenders and strike shots from distance with pace, and top-flight defenders like Giorgio Chiellini of Juventus will anticipate, predict and react to offensive players to win back possession.

Goalkeepers have also been injected with Personality+. The real-life personality of the keeper, whether acrobatic or traditional, will dictate his style in game. Dive attributes will determine the keepers with the ability to reach for further shots while reflex attributes determine reaction times, so a keeper like Petr Cech of Chelsea FC will show be able to showcase world-class skills.

3.0 out of 5 stars The best football game but still full of problems 15 Jun. 2011
Access Method:Box|Platform for Display:PlayStation3|Edition:Standard
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Reading the other reviews I have reached the conclusion that i am the only person who wants to play the game in career mode. I long ago reached my limited for online playing. For some reason i find the idea of playing against 12 year olds that spend 9 hours a day playing a little unappealing. The actual "playing" system, the control and action of players in a match, is very good but everything else seems to be half finished or broken. I'll just list my issues from this point.

Biggest issue first - Difficulty settings - I'm not one of the people that thinks the game is so hard it can't be played. I play on semi-pro most of time until i get a good team and then can just about handle pro. My problem is that when you change the setting up the opposition don't seem become more organised or more clinical finishers. The game just "cheats" against you. The ball will always make insane, likely impossible, bounces to fall to the oppositions feet. Opposition players suddenly have traits which are not present when you press R3 in man marking to look at player bios. You cannot tackle. If on the off chance you do you get booked. Your players seem to lose the ability to pass, shot or use skills. I'm also almost certain that there is pre-set scripts that force the opposition to score. You can spot them, probably if you have spent to much time playing, because the feel of the game changes completely, you're players become sluggish and the opposition suddenly become next to impossible to catch. Test this idea out yourselves, keep an eye out for it and intentionally foul someone and wait to see if the opposition score a great free-kick. The most annoying thing is when the game disregards its own rating system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very fun and addictive! 3 Aug. 2012

Despite many problems outlined by other members, this game is great fun, very addictive and enjoyable. In terms of hours spent playing compared to money spent on it, I definately think I got my moneys worth in the end.

People complain a lot about the online game modes, bugs, and other problems, yet they always seem to stick with the game and carry on playing it. This just goes to show how enjoyable it is despite its 'problems'.

Ultimate team is great fun, buying and selling players as well as managing your team is a great addition to just playing matches against people online.

Exhibiton matches against friends is also really enjoyable, especially when you have 8 people playing in a 4v4 game!!!

Overall, a really good game worth every penny, whenever I have mates over they all bring controllers so we can play some FIFA!!

2.0 out of 5 stars FIFA what happened? My experience....... 29 Dec. 2011
Access Method:Box|Platform for Display:PlayStation3|Edition:Standard
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
Its dec 2011 and I had not played a FIFA game since the 2007 edition which I loved, then I got into the COD series for a few years, but fed up with on line shooters I decided to try FIFA again plumping for the now cheap 2011 edition, firstly I only play football games in single player career mode (which was excellent in 2007, if not a little easy)so I started my career with Port Vale on semi-pro in Div 2 won the league comfortably but found creating goal scoring opportunities very difficult let alone scoring them, most of my games were low scoring turgid dull affairs with me trying to pass the ball about to create chances, but my passes were 9 times out of 10 intercepted, playing a through ball was a waste of time as the defenders always seemed to know where I was playing the ball, the AI defence were always on top never making mistakes, never fouling, always making perfect tackles. the worst lumbering center half always got the better of my supposedly 'quick' striker, but I mistakingly thought it was down to the quality of player I had at Port Vale so I got promoted and invested in the team moved up to professional (FIFA 2007 I played on legendary)Div 1 football was just the same after 30 odd games I am 3rd in the league but only scored 40 odd goals, every match is an ordeal, a grind, the AI defenders are brilliant, its just not fun to play, I am always giving away free kicks for nothing challenges yet I am never fouled, but always tackled when through on goal, in approx 100 games I have been awarded 1 penalty kick and the computer opponents have had a player sent off only once! The defence just never make mistakes even when hooking a leg around a striker through on goal. This is a real frustrating and annoying experience, its a game and should be fun, its way to far in favour of defence and keeping the scores low. A real poor attempt from a company who used to make a great football game, what happened?

I still to this day remember the days of PES 5 and PES 6, of which I consider to be the greatest football games EVER. It is such a shame Konami followed the downward spiral of EA's Fifa team. But anyways let me review through the pros and the cons of this game and whether it is really worth a buy.

MENUS:

Fifa looks solid here. The Menu's are clean, clear and engaging to the eye. There is music in the background and the game feels very polished even before you get on the pitch. You start off in the training pitch and are allowed to experiment with the controls, a very good touch indeed. The sizing of the text is also good, there have been times when certain games have totally missized text making it a pain to read.

GRAPHICS:

The graphics are good, not great. The frame rate is also good, but I feel some of the player faces look a bit dodgy. The stadiums do however feel alive and the stadiums are graphically drawn up to a very high standard.

SOUND:

Sound is also quite good in this game. You can hear the chants from the stadiums, the uproars when there is a miss or a goal scoring opportunity. The ball sounds good as well, and you hear the kicks from the players.

GAMEPLAY:

Ping pong passing. That's it. The words sum it up perfectly. The main reason I have disliked Fifa is due to the ping pong passing that is evident. You can keep pressing X with little regard to direction or momentum and the ball with ping pong between players. This I feel leads to less creativity and you will find more and more of your goals to be similar rather than different.

OVERALL:

It delivers everything perfectly bar the true gameplay, which I feel is vital in a game. It's perfect marketing and looks wise but the hardcore nitty gritty animations are a let down.
