Game Overview
For a millennium, the Crogenitors traveled the galaxy on their evolutionary mission, genetically altering the DNA of life forms they encountered to grant them new powers and abilities. Their greatest achievement was the creation of super-warriors: the Genetic Heroes. Discovering the power of “exponential” DNA (E-DNA), extremist Crogenitors sought to make their ultimate soldiers even more powerful. But E-DNA was unstable, unpredictable, and ultimately uncontrollable. Hordes of mutated abominations broke free from their masters’ control. They were the Darkspore. And after terrible ages of war, the Darkspore closed in on the final Crogenitors.
As a fugitive in the galactic hive of Darkspore domination, you’re a surviving Crogenitor who’s awoken from eons of sleep. Your only guide is HELIX, the AI who’s kept you in safe hiding since you entered suspended animation. Now, using HELIX’s exhaustive DNA database, you must reconstruct the Genetic Heroes using stabilized E-DNA. Make these Heroes more powerful than their original incarnations to lead them into an apocalyptic battle against the Darkspore.

Fun:
Firstly I would like to state, that I received this game on the expected day, with no problems, and the condition was perfect. Also the installation process was indeed simple, once the game was installed the only requirement process afterwards was to update it, this without doubt is a common process with most online RPG's (such as Bloodlines champions or league of legends). Secondly this game offers a lot of replay playability with its vast 17 mission campaign and PVP. However keep in mind that you won't be able to beat the campaign in one straight rush, since each level requires your "spore" to be a certain level. In fact this requires you to re-do previous levels, however this an negative aspect of the game, but instead rather positive. By replaying previous missions, you gain different items, which can be equip by your spores.
In overall I really enjoying this game, its a fun coop game that can be played with 3 other friends or random people, and it offers a lot of content. I believe that this game shouldn't be ignore since it has a lot of potentiating.

Fun:
Hate to see a solid game like this stuck on 1 star because of people who don't have any knowledge of PCs (sorry but it's true). Firstly someone who bought the Steam version (retail doesn't use Steam btw) and couldn't setup an EA account. Well I had no problem with this at all. And then someone who claimed the whole game downloaded via the internet, and then crashed a lot. It does neither, it installs off disk and then does some relatively minor patches via the internet. Within half an hour of the installer finishing I had the game patched and ready to play. Also I've had zero crashes with the game.
As for the game itself, I haven't reached the higher levels yet so I dunno if the stories of the game becoming a grind at higher levels are true, but from what I've seen so far it's a really solid Diablo clone. The reason I would knock off 1 star is the loot system isn't as fun as a regular fantasy action RPG. In Darkspore you collect parts for your heroes to customize them, but it's never quite as fun as the varied loot in Diablo. Also you don't have the same level of customization as in Spore. Where the game shines though is the 100 unlockable heroes and having 3 to choose from during each mission (you switch between them). It adds a nice bit of strategy. You have to change hero lots mid mission, not just to keep them alive but also if you fight enemies of the same type as your hero you take more damage (there's 5 types of hero and enemies).
Overall though, Darkspore really surprised me. You wouldn't think taking Spore (which let's face it wasn't great) and turning it into an action RPG would work, or that Maxis could pull off a new genre, but it's surpisingly good and fun to play. It also has nice graphics IMO. I'm looking forward to trying it multiplayer, since action RPG are usually much more fun with other people.

Fun:
I have played over 200 hours of Darkspore so if your looking for an experienced review here we go!
Graphics:
Presentation is good and it's well polished.
Story:
There is no story worth speaking of to be honest. The game does not focus on story so this is not a real issue.
Single Player:
Darkspore is meant to be co-op but you can solo missions. Your ability to do so will depend on gear and you find yourself repeating older missions to find gear. Gear is randomised much like Diablo so it can take a while. While satisfying to complete missions, it can be frustrating not having the gear to do the next mission. Since there are 25 hero's it can be tricky to find gear for the hero's you actually use.
Multiplayer:
The real meat of the game is that it's 4 player co-op. However when loot drops you will roll against the party although you can trade in missions you cannot outside. You can join a matchmaker or form a party in the lobby. Overall it can be entertaining but it can get dull as the difficulty is fairly simple and there is not much strategy. It's more about the gear to be honest.

So you have 3 heros you can choose and each has 3 abilities. One ability is shared amongst the team so you actually have 5 abilities per hero. You basically go through a linear level killing enemies with a boss at the end. There is not much else to it.
Conclusion:
I put 200+ hours into it because it was enjoyable. However it only is if you have friends to play with and if you enjoy 'diablo' style loot. It's very niche. So if i look at the game in an unbiased way it is only worth the score i have posted.
