In Battlefield 2, players will choose to fight for one of three military superpowers: the United States, China, or the newly formed Middle East Coalition. Armed with the latest modern weaponry, players can take control of any of the game's 30+ vehicles to engage in major conflicts with over 100 players in some of the largest online battles on the PC.
Battlefield 2 features immense, richly detailed, destructible environments, from city streets to remote forests, in some of the most notorious hot spots around the world. Each map in Battlefield 2 adjusts in scale to support the number of players in the world, providing the ideal vehicle-to-player ratio and an optimized game play experience. Enhanced team play features allow players to enter the action on the front lines as part of a formal squad, or work behind the scenes in Commander Mode to direct the strategic assaults of their team mates. With in-game success, players increase their rank from recruit all the way to General and unlock awards, including new weapons, vehicle decals, medals, and more.
Additionally, Battlefield 2 showcases an all-new game engine and physics system to bring the modern battlefield to life like never before. The new material penetration feature measures weapons' ability to fire through barriers based on their composition and players will need to know the difference between concealment and cover in order to survive.

Having invested in the 1942 series of 'Battlefield', I was extremely excited to learn that this new release was on its way. I was not dissappointed. At all.
Ok, if you dont have internet, I would advise not to get the game, as only a few maps are available to play in Vs. the computer, and you don't get to experience the sheer imense-ness (?) of the game. HOWEVER, if you do have internet, BUY THIS NOW!!! Basically, the maps are v.cool, can support 64 players at once smoothly, and are HUGE!!! One of the very cool aspects of the game is that you can get 'upgraded' to a higher rank, which comes with new weapons - V. cool. The upgrade also allows you to play as any special operations force from around the globe - all equipped with their own unique armoury to wreak death with. cool. Now on to the vehicles you can kick...um...the enemy with...thousands of tanks, personnel carriers, jeeps, AA tanks, choppers, jets, AA batteries, MG batteries etc. are yours for the taking - trust me, it is wicked... you can lock missiles onto people....The other very cool thing about this game is that when commander, you can be in charge of an artillery battery that resembles the apocalypse. Any tank, soldier or thing that is in the target area gets blown into the next century...only, it gets kinda annoying when the enemy uses it on you, but then again you can just blow it up with a couple of C4 charges... This version of battlefield hands down beats any of its predecessors, and I strongly recommend anybody with a good internet connection buys this game. Just remember, it is designed for internet play and will therefore seem to be a waste of money to anybody who does not have internet. Happy fighting!

What a game!,

Well, my attached title kind of says it all really. This is the game that all players of the first person shooter genre should aspire to own. I bought it in advance of a new PC I had ordered and wasn’t disappointed in the slightest – it was the first game I played and am still playing to this day with alarming frequency.I must make one admission – I haven’t played the single player version of the game yet, as the online multiplayer function is totally engrossing. So taking this into consideration, I’m only going to comment on the on-line experience. In a nutshell: The game takes the form of a battle played out by two opposing sides on a variety of maps. You choose which side you wish to fight for (USA, China or Middle Eastern Coalition – depending on map) and then you have the option of playing as one of seven different soldier classes, each with individual weapons and attributes: Special Forces, Sniper, Assault, Support, Engineer, Medic and Anti-Tank. Once in-game and on the battlefield, you have a host of vehicles (Humvees, helicopters, fighter planes, tanks, APC’s – the list goes on) at your disposal to help you achieve your main goal of capturing flags while wiping out the opposition in the quickest and most tactically sound way possible. To begin with, you’ll probably find yourself on the receiving end of a barrage of bullets and bombs, as the competition is fierce and the action unrelenting. The beauty of the game however, is the fact that after no time at all, you’ll be ambushing and assaulting like the rest of them. From a personal perspective, the main appeal of the game lies in the communal aspect that has developed around the Battlefield series. You have the opportunity team up online with other players from around the globe, set up a clan or just have an informal arrangement to meet and play however you like. You can play as a lone soldier, as an integral part of a 6-man squad or as the supreme commander of your chosen force. I usually find that playing in a squad, working as a team to capture flags and assault the enemy is most rewarding, but due to the flexibility of the game, others will have their own preferences. In summary, if you’re looking for a contemporary take on warfare with realistic weapons, vehicles and a varied choice of character then look no further than Battlefield 2, you won’t be disappointed.

WoW,
This review is from: Battlefield 2 (PC DVD) (Video Game)
Ive had BF2 for a while now, and if it wasnt for a bad net connection, i would be on it know, hence this review! To put it simply, its about the best game I own. If you like teamwork e.t.c, buy it now. There are loads of different soldier types to choose, from snipers to support gunners, and each of these have different weapons to be unlocked. The ranking system is great too, you can see how you compare with BF2 player from around the globe. You are also awarded medals for your performance, and you can progress through the ranks, from private to sergeant e.t.c. Vehicle wise, there are loads, from buggies to fast jets. The aircraft can be a little frustrating at first, but once you get the hang of them, they are great fun. When playing the game, you can either go "lone wolf", or join a squad within you main team. When in a squad, you can use a microphone to talk to your team-mates, which makes the game alot more fun, especailly if you need help, or spot an enemy unit! The team can also have an overall commander, who gives out orders to the squad leaders to carry out objectives e.t.c. Graphics wise, its stunning. This is the first game I have played where camoflage actually works. The snipers have ghillie suits, and you can be feet away from someone, but they cannot see you! The water looks amazing, especially the wash from helicopters, and the reflection of the sun. But, these graphics come at a price. I think that the specs on the box are a little too low for what you actually need. My system is at least double on every factor, but I cant run it on full graphics e.t.c. Before you buy, make sure your graphics card is supported by the game though, as it is a bit picky on what cards it can run on. Check BF2's website for more info. Like I said at the begining, I cant get enough of this game, its just brilliant.
