Awesome 'light sabre' 14 Nov 2009
By BahaN
I've been commuting with this light for a couple of years now. Runs on 4 AAA batteries that last me for about 6 months on a daily basis (usually in flashing mode). Bright enough on steady mode for a compact & tight beam on an unlit road, but more suited to lit streets and in flashing mode powerful enough to make street signs reflect back. On misty or foggy mornings absolutely amazing road presence. A strong durable light, my mount failed to engage after about 18 months and the light came off in heavy traffic, got spun by a car wheel and bounced on to the kerb - retrieved it with only minor dents to the aluminium housing, no damage to the light! Now zip-tied to the mount to prevent reoccurence. Too valuable to lose....

Blindingly good! 13 Nov 2010
By KB
Well, I bought this so that I could improve my night cycling vision through Richmond (pitch black) Park on my winter commutes home from work. The first time I used it I was sure my ears were not deceiving me when an oncoming commuter cyclist shouted "stupid". It left me feeling quietly humiliated before convincing myself that he was one of those ridiculous cyclists that talk on a handsfree headphone set to some poor fellow on the other end. Two nights later whilst thinking 'this lamp does not seem to cast much light ahead' another oncoming female cyclist shouted "you're blinding me!" of course this confirmed my previous suspicions that I was the perpetrator of causing blindness through the intense luster of my Nano 9. So I acted promptly by dipping my light which has thankfully resulted in causing no further blindness and happily for me has lit the path ahead so much more clearly.

In conclusion I think this light allows you to be seen well but also, if dipped, provides you with the night vision even a carrot eating cat would find hard to beat!

On the slight downside the bracket fitting did not come with enough rubber washer (the washer is what allows the bracket, that the light attaches to, to fit snugly around the handlebars) luckily though I was replacing an old light bracket so was able to use some of the rubber washer from this one.

Great light 19 Nov 2009
I'm now on my fourth front bike light. The first was not LED-based and went through batteries too quickly. The second was stolen. The third had problems staying mounted in rainy conditions. This is by far my favorite of the four. While I mainly ride on lit streets or bicycle routes, the light is suitable for the occasional unlit road or gravel path. There is enough illumination outside the central focus to warn of pot holes and branches. The other superb feature is the mount, an aspect that many people neglect to consider when choosing the right light. The full mount can be tightened enough that it will not change position when hitting a bump in the road (even in wet conditions). It has a convenient quick release mechanism that allows you to detach the torch in less than a second; that's convenient as you will need to take any good light with you to avoid theft. It also isn't too difficult to detach the full mount (~20 seconds) to move it to a different bike. The metal housing feels solid and the large on / blink / off button can be operated easily, even while wearing winter gloves.

DO NOT BUY !
Light is ok, but the plastic fitting simply does not hold and support the lights which makes the whole product unusuable ! Better off buying a CATEYE !

Electron Nano 9 LED Front Light
Great little front light for your bike. Very substantial due to the metal case, a good spread of light from a small unit. Highly recommended.

Disappointed
I bought this light with good recommendation. It worked well for about 10 months; more regular use this winter with it's shorter days. Read more
