    4.0 out of 5 stars replacement of a dyson 30 July 2008
    By Darren
Brought this Electrolux to replace our old vacuum. Which were for the last two purchases both top end Dyson models. The Dyson's start off very good vacuum cleaners but dont really have the same sucking power after a while which is not that good, as Dyson claims no loss of suction. (and Yes we did clean and replace filter's). That is why we changed brands this vacuum has alot more powerful 2000w motor, is cheaper than Dyson and in real life alot more better looking. dont be put off this vaccum by the photo's we were abit but thought it's only a vacuum and got one anyway. The looks are great and the colour is very very nice, a deep metallic red. Yes the vacuum is fairly heavey so beware if you struggle to carry things up stairs. We had vacuumed the floor that morning using our old Dyson, in the afternoon when our new vacumm arrived we set it up and gave it ago over the same area, and you should of seen the dirt and dust it sucked up from our carpet after it was vacuumed only a few hours before, brilliant, here's hoping it will last longer than our Dyson's.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just bought this vacuum to replace my DC07. 19 April 2008
It looks great, picks up loads more than our DC07,but it's VERY HEAVY.At over 10Kg my back was hurting and felt like I'd been at the gym and that was after only 1/2 the house. While the hoses do go right up the stairs you have to attach extension hoses not kept with the machine.Even with these attached the hoover fell over three times when I used it and two attachments fell off their housings! To use the hose you have to remove it from an inflexible plastic clip, which I feel might break fairly quickly, and I had to sit/kneel down to perform this action. My husband thinks it has great cleaning power, but I would have in hind sight brought a much lighter machine.

1.0 out of 5 stars Found to be totally unsatisfactory 3 Mar 2009
After 4 months of struggling with this cleaner we have given it up as not fit for purpose and our comments apply equally to all models of the red devil.
If we may put our findings into perspective possibly relative to other
customer feedbacks on this and other sites, yes it is a bit of a jigsaw to assemble but you only have to do it once.
The very fine discharge filter is quite effective but the rotation within
the cyclone creates a static charge which attracts dust when the cleaner is switched off so when restarted appears to blow out dust. The cleaner is very effective in collecting the more gritty type of dust like you might find on entrance door carpet and it is collected by the cyclone.
Whilst we have not experienced it we can envisage it also could be effective in removing heavy coarse dog hair providing the carpets also have a high concentration of this gritty dust. Lighter pet hair and fluff type dust rotates within the cyclone and becomes like a finger of candy floss and if not removed from the cyclone as soon as it starts, it levitates, rises to the top of the cyclone and blocks the cyclone exit. Very fine dust like face power is not then collected by the cyclone and is carried over blocking the filters that are after the cyclone this can happen after just one or two rooms, they then have to be washed and dried before they can be reused.
The on board hose which is the connection to the brush head frequently blocks with the slightest bit of debris owing to the tight bends but is less prone to blockage if you allow it to hang free. On hard floors it only cleans, if you are lucky, on the backward stroke , on the forward stroke spits the dirt out behind.
However such an item ever got into production raises questions on Electrolux product testing and their quality control.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst hoover I have every purchased 17 Mar 2009
The only thing going for this machine is it looks good. So heavy its hard work to use, every week I have to dismantle the machine to clean out filters and blockages from dog hair - never got this a dyson.

    2.0 out of 5 stars I wouldn't buy another one 24 Jan 2012
    By A. Dyer
I bought the vacuum on account of the strong suction power, and wanting an upright cleaner rather than one you drag around everywhere. It has that, and it's also very noisy. However my dissatisfaction is with how often it loses suction. I live on my own, so keeping my house clean shouldn't be a difficult job. Yet it seems like after every three uses something gets clogged in it. Normally it's the suction hose that gets clogged, requiring a water hose blast to unclog it. General cleaning of the vac is a faff that needs to be done far too often.
    Detailing has also broken off.

My previous bagged vacumm cleaner needed no more than a bag change and the filters hardly needed to be cleaned. That lasted 7 years. I doubt this will last three.
