Unknown in the UK Mike Viola, from his work with The Candy Butchers through to his solo work this new record jumps out the stereo. Melodic, clever arrangements harnessed with stunning guitar solos, clocking in at under 35 minutes there's no filler. Featuring Dan Wilson (Semisonic) & Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) all fans of power pop should invest with confidence.

More Flawless Power Pop 9 Nov 2011
By K. Jones - Published on Amazon.com

I happened across "Lurch" a few years ago and was struck by Mike Viola's tight, fun, and passionate power pop songs. "Electro De Perfecto" continues Mike's high standard, with perhaps a slightly darker spin.

Mike Viola is one of the best songwriters around when it comes to gorgeous, catchy melodies. He has richly layered the vocal for a great power pop sound. In some ways, he is a throwback to 70's band like the Raspberries and (obviously) the Beatles with this approach.

Some faves of this album are "Get You Back", "El Mundo De Perfecto", "Here's the Rub", and "Closet Cutter". The last two show the darker side of Mike's work.

There is a reason Mike is sought after as a collaborator, songwriter, and performer in both films (That Thing You Do, Walk Hard) and by other musicians (Rachael Yamagata, Mandy Moore, Fountains of Wayne). He brings to the table great songs and vision for how to perform them. Electro De Perfecto is one of the finest powerpop collections I have heard in years. Give it a listen.

Mike Viola at His Best 14 Sep 2011
By Mark Wade Stone - Published on Amazon.com

I cannot wait to hear the rest of this record again, because right now I am almost completely stuck listening to the first track over & over. If Mike's past albums were undergrad work, this is his doctoral thesis. Full of muscular, complex guitar playing, delicious pop melodies and harmonies couching Mike's usual survey of unhappiness and ecstasy. His voice and guitar are jacked up in the mix the way I've always wanted to hear his music. One of the best singers in the business, Mike takes lots of vocal chances - more so than on other records - and does not wipe out a single time. Reminds me a bit of Falling Into Place album, but even better, if that's possible.

Great Album Mike! 13 Sep 2011
By Benjamin Chubak - Published on Amazon.com
My first experience of this album came in the form of a live performance where Mike and Co. played of a couple of the songs at The Bootleg theater in Los Angeles.

At the end of their set Mike asked us for our emails so he could send us an early copy of the album.

That was the first time watching Mike and his gang perform, the songs were great, Mike was great and he even gave us free stuff! I will definitely be buying this album to support him! Though, I might be waiting for the vinyl version... haven't decided yet.

OVERALL: Buy this album and check out his other albums "Lurch" and "Hang on Mike" (Candy Butchers). If you like this, you will probably like his other ones as well.
Classy Songwriter 2 July 2013

I only discovered the music of Mike Viola about a year ago. I've been very impressed with what I've heard so far, and this fine album is no exception. I'm shocked that an artist this good is still so underrated and underappreciated. This guy is the real deal; a songwriter with chops and songs with hooks and melody galore. Perfecto Power-Pop Plus! With songs as catchy and effervescent as "Get You Back" this guy should be a star!Viola doesn't remind me of anyone else in particular, but he obviously has distilled plenty of quality influences from the 1960s and 1970s to create a powerful, passionate style of music. And the lyrical content in his songs is also very impressive.

This is a great CD!!! Each song has its own feel and the lyrics are amazing. Soundtrack of my Summer should be a top 40 single. The more you listen to this record, the more you will like it. The follow up Acousto De PErfecto is wonderful also.
