This was the first Butthole Surfers album i got, its probably the most accesible, the first time i heard "birds" i was in love...everyone loves "Pepper" cause it rocks, "Cough Syrup" is one of those rare tracks, like Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" (which I cant spell), where you can remeber all the lyrics, yet they dont make sense and there's so many of them. "Cough syrup" also has a good aptmosphere, i imagine this hot little hick town gone bad.... "Jingle of a dog's collar" and "TV star" are nice trippy pop songs, u have to love them. "The Lord is a Monkey" has the same easy mainstream appeal as "Pepper" with its big beats and "cool" chorus, i love it too. "L.A" is another aptmospheric song, i can totally imagine being stuck in smoggy LA traffic there. "Space" is actually a really good instrumental, it builds up and explodes beautifully....amazing. The album is great start to finish, a classic. Not quite the Butthole Surfers of old, but easier to get into, and still a great record.

I bought this album a looooong time ago, when CD's were where it was at and cover art was relevant.

This album has dated well and is an immediately accessible slice of psych-rock, straight up bar tunes and a little bit of white-noise folk noodling.

It has it all, from rocking opener to electronica wash finisher and the emotions run high on every track in between.

Electriclarryland is a rare album, one that immediately strikes a chord yet not something you are fed up with after five listens, it sticks with you for a long time.

In America sunshine seems to be a certain colour one doesn't see anywhere else. Turn that into music and this is what you have, sweating backs in cotton t-shirts, fried food, exhaust fumes, rage, love, melancholy, a fools heart.

Essential.

These boys were in the same class as the creator of 'Beavis &Butthead' need I say much more other than buy this album. They are not strange but more bizarre but with a good sense of humor. They are probably under many influences while making records, which gives you a great insight into their humor. They have great songs on this album so if you have heard any of there other albums don't judge them on this record. Do yourself a favour buy it.
