Book Description

16 Jun 2010 185617770X 978-1856177702 4

A fully comprehensive text for courses in electrical principles, circuit theory, and electrical technology, providing 800 worked examples and over 1000 further problems for students to work through at their own pace. This book is ideal for students studying engineering for the first time as part of BTEC National and other pre-degree vocational courses (especially where progression to higher levels of study is likely), as well as Higher Nationals, Foundation Degrees and first year undergraduate modules.

Now in its fourth edition, this best-selling textbook has been updated with developments in key areas such as semiconductors, transistors, and fuel cells, along with brand new material on ABCD parameters and Fourier’s Analysis. Greater emphasis is placed on real-world situations in order to ensure the reader can relate the theory to actual engineering practice. In addition, the text has been restructured throughout so that 175 Exercises now appear at regular intervals, which the student can work through to test their learning of essential concepts and check their progress.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good insights 30 May 2012

Not for low level study but good for HNC/D level upwards. It is really for budding engineers out there who want a good reference book. You need previous knowledge and the ability to read and learn on your own for this book. I like it and it helped me study HND level.

I brought this book to help with my HNC in mechanical engineering. I have found it to be complement the course. I have brought other books by John Bird and have found them easy to follow with good detail and accurate information. There are many worked examples to aid the understanding and further questions to confirm the understanding. A great book and well worth the money

This book was a recommended buy from a friend and has soon become one of the sources I turn too in all situations. There isn't anything to do with my HNC course in electrical and electronic engineering that this doesn't cover. Great book and a price well worth the purchase.
