Sorry not sure if its more than one year. However, very pleased with the unit. Sensitive thermostat uses minimal power to heat small toilet.

hi - i had similar issue. The wireless temp control suggested is quite pricey, you can achieve similar results if you stick a 3-pin plug on the lead and use a digital mains timer. eg: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Electronic-digital-mains-Socket-Display/dp/B002P7RF9A/ref=sr_1_14?ie=UTF8&qid=1384432220&sr=8-14&keywords=wireless+timer. This only costs 5.74. Of course, you can't vary the temperature of the panel, it's just on/off and as long as it's not near water (eg. bathroom, where you might need a sparky to advise) you should be ok. hope this helps.
