5.0 out of 5 stars SHOCK AND AWE!, 25 Aug 2005
This review is from: Electric Pioneer: An Armchair Guide to Gary Numan (Paperback)
i've been a huge fan of Gary Numan since 1980, even seeing gary on the legendary 1981 Farewell concerts. Gary's own autobiography was pretty trippy (Praying To The Aliens) but it didn't pay quite enough attention to the music for hardcore fans. Electric Pioneer is without doubt the perfect companion piece to Praying To the Aliens, its full of Numan facts, tons and tons of memorabilia and for the first time takes fans and perhaps curious none fans effortlessly through the tangled maze that is the extraordinary Numan legacy.
An essential purchase for any Numan devotee.

5.0 out of 5 stars spot on biography of the dark lord of electro pop, 19 Aug 2005
By
Robert Reed (Isle Of Wright) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Electric Pioneer: An Armchair Guide to Gary Numan (Paperback)
Electric Pioneer is a cut above the usual fan written book, for a start its packed to the rafters with amazing Numan memorabila. Gary's every musical move is recorded here and laid out in such detail that i quickly became convinced that the author was obviously an ubber Numan obsessive, something that became apparent the deeper i delved into this amazing book.
The layout is top notch and the author has taken just as much care over over Gary's latter less successful years as he has the early chart storming years.
For anyone at all curious about the Numan legacy this book is the perfect introduction to an exceptional and unlikely British popstar. Outstanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars buy this book now!, 12 Aug 2005
This review is from: Electric Pioneer: An Armchair Guide to Gary Numan (Paperback)
I was literally floored by this book, completely fantastic from start to finish. I'd been a big Gary Numan fan when i was younger but had lost touch with the guy as the years went by. Finding this book in my local book store absolutely made my day, i just couldn't put it down. Brilliantly written and very, very detailed, there's so much information in this book that even hardcore fans will be impressed.
Fantastic book, would love to see a follow up. Superb.
