4.0 out of 5 stars Turn On The Light 15 Sep 2011
As a longterm ELO fan it was great to see ELO reborn with this album, ELO when it finished was basically Jeff Lynne, this album is far more of a joint effort between the various band members, some songs hark back to the classic ELO sound whilst others provide a new direction for the band!!

4.0 out of 5 stars ELO without Jeff Lynne 23 Dec 2013

Can this work? Elo is Jeff Lynne, who has a very distinctive sound. But ELO II is surprisingly good. I can highly recommend it. The band members have - luckily - not tried to copy Lynne, but they have instead created the same - good - feeling the original ELO had. Again: Reccomendable!

5.0 out of 5 stars Part Two 10 Dec 2012

It took me quite a while to come to terms with the idea of a version of E.L.O. without Jeff Lynne. After all, he was their lead vocalist, lead guitarist, sole songwriter, and producer. However, this album, part two's 1st studio effort, is really very good. Part 2 is almost a completely different band, but they're a good band, and deserve to be assessed on their own merits.
So, who are they? Bev Bevan on drums, Pete Haycock (of Climax Blues Band) on guitar, bass, and vocals, Eric Troyer on keyboards and vocals, and Neil Lockwood on vocals. Additionally, Mik Kaminski plays violin on one track (Heartbreaker) and Louis Clark arranges the strings. Eric is the main songwiter, but Bev and Pete form a songwriting partnership that spawns three excellent tracks.
The result is an upbeat and enjoyable pop/rock album written and performed by a very talented bunch of guys, who perhaps should have chosen a completely new name for their band!
