I spend a lot of time in my car travelling from one customer meeting to another so a heated travel mug seemed a good idea. After careful consideration and reading the other reviews here this one seemed the best choice. The first thing I noticed was that the lid didn't fit very tightly and came off far too easily. This meant that anytime I took a sip of coffee it leaked unless I held my finger on the lid to stop it coming off and soaking me in coffee. Even driving on a bumpy road resulted in hot liquid coming out of the top of the mug so I had to have some kitchen towel on standby to mop up the spills. I found that only half filling it made it safer and more manageable.

As for the heating element this worked ok for the first week, thereafter it just stopped working so I have asked for a replacement. If that turns out to have the same problems I'll try another brand.

Morrison's are currently selling this model for £3.00.I bought one for my husband, who is an HGV driver and often has nights out in his truck. It worked fine for about two weeks and then just stopped working, so I bought him another one. This one lasted not even one day. He tells me he has seen lots of these thrown away by other drivers. Have now bought him an insulated mug, and he takes a flask with him.

Used on trip to Scotland. Used it to make hot chocolate. Took about 10 minutes to get the water hot enough to use. It would be a useful item to have ready if you get stuck in a traffic jam.

Hi, If you read the instructions on these (and like) items they are for keeping your HOT drink HOT - NOT for heating up the water for the actual drink - therefore you must make your drink in the usual way you would in a thermal cup/mug and then plug in the hot drink to keep its temperature. If it is trying to heat the water up then no wonder it is overloading and burning out after a few goes!!!! mine keeps a hot coffee hot on a 250 mile trip ;-)(rated 3 due to lid issues as mentioned by others)

This item looks a lot better than it actually is. Yes it works fine keeping my tea hot during the trips I make but I am not happy with the lid. I think it could have been made with a much better seal as I am very wary of it leaking when I go over any bumps (and nowadays we have more than ever on our badly maintained roads) so I have to put a tissue in the tray underneath the dashboard to absorbs the drips or fill it just 3/4 full and try and miss the potholes.

There is very little I can really say about this except it does exactly what it is supposed to do, it keeps my coffee hot when on the road and is ideal when your on a long car journey, the only drawback is that because of the design of our car we cannot plug it in on the drivers side as the cigarette lighter blocks the coffee cup, but apart from that, great innovative idea and well worth the money, considering after just a couple of uses it has paid for itself as opposed to stopping off at the motorway cafes for a cuppa.
