I saw this film when it was released at the cinema in the 80s and loved it instantly. I managed to obtain the soundtrack fairly shortly afterwards but could never obtain the VHS or DVD. I actually gave up ever seeing the film again. I have found out very recently that it has finally been released on DVD and did not hesitate buying it. Despite the obvious dating, and relatively simple story it is still funny and I have loved watching it as much as the first time, and unfortunately, this just shows my age or the fact that I have not actually grown up a lot in the last 25 years!!! Oh well, that's life I guess .....

This film still warms the cockles of my heart. I remember buying the soundtrack on vinyl in that odd dust jacket as one of my first LP's.

Sure..... I remember the critics at the time saying it was just an extended bunch of pop videos for some of Virgin's artists, but it's still just some fun.

And of course it's dated not so well - 25 years after all. I challenge anyone to look at many of the films and TV shows of that era and say they haven't dated as it's inevitable.

Just get over it! The film is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face and it leaves you feeling good.

I've been waiting for years for this to become available and cannot wait to finally get in added to my collection alone with such other very fond memories of my teenage years.

JUST BUY IT AND ENJOY!!!!

I had been waiting for many years for a DVD of this early 1980's American fantasy comedy about a home computer run amok; a computer which interferes with the new love affair between an architect and a lady cellist. There's a fine Giorgio Moroder-produced soundtrack, featuring Culture Club, Jeff Lynne, Philip Oakey and others. Fortunately, I have a code-free DVD player so I can enjoy discs such as this, because there's no other DVD of this movie other than the UK disc.

Please ignore an incorrect review by an Australian customer who complains about poor sound or mono sound. The sound is fine and it IS in stereo. The disc is Dolby Stereo(NOT surround sound), and so, on your surround sound receiver or preamplifier, be sure that you are in the "stereo" or "Dolby Stereo" mode, because, if you play this DVD with your receiver or preamplifier in the Dolby Pro Logic, Dolby Pro Logic II, Dolby Pro Logic IIx modes(either "movie" or "music" version), you will hear stereo upmixed to simulated surround sound. In simulated surround sound, the sound will be dominated by the centre channel, producing an unintended somewhat mono-ish sound. Play the disc in the correct audio mode, and you will hear stereo sound.

The disc adds the music video for the title track, which the DVD manufacturer has licensed from Virgin Records. Too bad that the DVD manufacturer didn't license all 7 video clips for the soundtrack songs(these were once released on UK VHS as "Electric Dreams:The Video Soundtrack"). I've got the Uk videocassette of "Electric Dreams:the Video Soundtrack", but unfortunately, that VHS tape has only linear stereo audio, which plays only in mono sound on most modern VHS machines.

Technically excellent remaster of very enjoyable film from 1984 on DVD.Played on Sony HDMI DVD Player with brilliant results-no need for blu-ray!
Only let-down in content is the weak special feature of video, in letter-box format only, by Phil Oakey'Together in Electric Dreams'.In the original format from 1984-which I still own-the VHS video tape,in full screen, lasts nearly half an hour and contains seven songs featured in the film

Miles(Lenny Von Dohlen)is an architect/bachelor who is always late for work.A colleague suggests Miles buys a personal organiser to help him run his life more smoothly but instead the sales assistant at the store sells Miles a computer that can do all the latest technology. The computer develops a personality called Edgar and he and Miles become best friend's.Meanwhile,a celloist/girl called Madeline(Virginia Madsen)moves into the upstair's appartment and she and Miles end up dating.Miles spends less time at home with Edgar but also enlists him to help win Madeline's affection's.During the course of this Edgar himself falls in love with Madeline and a love triangle ensues with many funny and emotional consequence's.This is a fantastic movie that's very well acted by it's star's and has an amazing soundtrack which if you don't have already you should order asap!.The instrumental love song "Madelines theme" by Giorgio Moroder is incredibly emotional and wonderful.I actually only saw this movie because it had 2 new Culture Club song's in it but it soon became one of my all time fave's and i've watched this over and over.Strongly recommended!.

Great film, which I have waited for years to own on DVD. Only critisism soundtrack only in stereo and very few extras, which begs the question why hold it back from release for so long, if your not going to enhance it.
