Denmark released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: English ( Dolby Digital Stereo ), Danish ( Subtitles ), Finnish ( Subtitles ), Norwegian ( Subtitles ), Swedish ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (2.35:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu, Scene Access, SYNOPSIS: A police officer who would rather use his brains than his gun is put into a situation where neither can help him in this police drama. John Wintergreen (Robert Blake) is a sawed-off and street-smart Arizona motorcycle cop who dreams of climbing the ladder and becoming a police detective, but his ambitions are scoffed at by his partner, Zipper (Billy "Green" Bush). Wintergreen's superiors tend not to take him seriously due to his short stature, but when he stumbles upon the site of a murder, he digs up enough relevant evidence to insure his advancement to detective status. However, after a few days on the job, Wintergreen begins to realize just how corrupt his superior Poole (Mitchell Ryan) truly is after Poole attempts to frame a local hippie, Bob Zemko (Peter Cetera), for a crime he didn't commit. Adding fuel to the fire is Poole's discovery that he and Wintergreen have been dating the same woman, dancer-turned-barmaid Jolene (Jeannine Riley). Electra Glide in Blue was the first (and to date only) directorial credit for James William Guercio. Successful in the music industry as a manager and producer, Guercio was best known for his association with the top-selling jazz-rock group Chicago; several members of the band appear in the movie, as does a young Nick Nolte in a bit part. On a note of sad irony, Terry Kath, the longtime Chicago vocalist who died in 1978 from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head, plays a gun-wielding killer in this film. 5.0 out of 5 stars Little Big Man 6 Jun 2005
By Tanya
Format:DVD
An all time favourite - it has the flavour of the 70s, a gripping thriller of a plot, uniquely believable and painfully flawed characters, black humour and Robert Blake! What more could you need?

Blake is a highway patrolman, tired of cruising the blacktop on his Electraglide, who dreams of one day becoming a detective. When a for real murder mystery drops into his lap, he gets his chance to prove himself...but it's not quite how he imagined it.

This is CHiPs meets Blood Simple. A gem of a film.

5.0 out of 5 stars Iconic 70s Movie 19 July 2009
Format:DVD
Worth it for the opening titles alone which have never been surpassed for the integration of the music with freeze frames. The title sequence of CHiPS (1977)would probably never have happened had EGiB not existed !

The DVD has the bonus of the trailer which captures much of the film's essence and an interesting interview with the director, James William Guercio. What a pity he made nothing else.

There are strong performances from Robert Blake and the best portrayer of American "trailer trash" of his generation, Billy "Green" Bush, who also starred in Bob Rafelson's 5 Easy Pieces (1970). Add to that, the fantastic setting and reasonable plot and you have an enduring classic from the golden age of American cinema - the Seventies.

5.0 out of 5 stars An icon from the 70's 17 July 2009
Format:DVD|Amazon Verified Purchase
For those remembering this first time around you'll remember the talked about comparison with Easy Rider... the good guys/ bad guys thing... On watching the film again it is just as good as I recall and the character nuances, skill of performance and fantastic scenery all add up to a great film. On top of a great film you get a great plot and even better music ... particularly the last track 'Tell Me' .... so put it all together for a top notch, evocative and moving experience... excellent !!!. I'm surprised the movie is only just out out on DVD and just as surprised that the soundtrack is only available on vinyl...(which I've tracked down and purchased)... lets hope its out on CD soon. p.s. guess you've guessed the bikes are Harley Davidsons so if you have a yen for the bikes thats yet another reason to get the film !!
