As a brave and noble warrior you set on a dangerous adventure, to find the hidden heir to a throne that sits empty, the previous emperor having been killed by an unknown assassin. With no true Emperor in place and no guidance for the people of Cyrodiil, the gates of Oblivion open, bringing only death and destruction upon the humble towns and villages.

It's up to you to find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel. Turn the tide of darkness before it’s too late.

New on PS3
All the updated patches and downloads for Xbox360 and PC are available in the PS3 version. More excitingly, The Nights of The Nine faction has been added and integrated into the storyline here so you won’t need to buy it as an ‘add-on’ package. Also, blending and shading effects are much more seamless on PS3 so the game looks even more stunning than ever before.

Main Features
Live Another Life in Another World: Fully personalize the world of Oblivion by creating your own unique character from an endless variety of races, attributes, skills and mastery levels.

True Next Generation: Unprecedented visuals combined with stunning special effects deliver an awe inspiring 3rd or 1st person adventure. Visit lifelike towns, far away monuments of beauty, dark and eerie dungeons and walk amongst most realistic forests ever created in a game.

First Person Melee and Magic: To defend yourself against the numerous monsters and marauders that live in Tamriel, you must master the arts of combat and magic. As you progress your character’s skill set you will learn new movers and how to mix ingredients such as plants, vegetables, beverages and herbs to create your very own spells, to prepare you for any given situation.

Realistic Characters: Oblivion features thousands of individual characters and character traits. Each have a unique personality and type of lifestyle within Tamriel, part of the fun of playing Oblivion is knowing its populace and how each individual can help you find your way and achieve your goals. Talk to them, find out what is happening in their lives, but you will need to master the art of conversation to fully succeed!

Open-Ended Game Play: The enormous world of Oblivion is open for you to explore at your own pace and there are multiple ways of achieving your main goal. 5.0 out of 5 stars Like the Universe but bigger and more Mud Crabs, 16 Jun 2007
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This game defines what RPGs should be. Not following some half arsed story
line and getting 15 exp for defeating a singing clock. Not traveling down hairline thin corridors and fighting mindless enemy after mindless enemy with your stick of hitting +4. No this is REAL role-play, real adventure, reality synthesised (RSX pun :D). There is no simple way of putting together a honest fully descriptive review of the amazing freedom you are indulging in if you buy this game. It may seem unforgivably daunting and tedious by some on the review on here but it is truly far from it, true you start off without being told anything, just plonked into the middle of it all, but theres nothing wrong with that, cause here in the province of Cyrodill you are free to choose your own path. If your really confused which you shouldn't honestly be for more than 10 minutes, just talk a walk up to the Imperial city, and talk to some people, then head of to Weynon Priory, and your away on the main story line. Also there is markers to every place you need to go for a quest it honestly couldn't be more simple to get from A - Z and all the places in between there including the greek alphabet :) (Geek joke)

A few things I'd like to point out just tp give you a feel of how much choice there is:
1) Make your own spells with a variety of wacky or explosive effects, at the Arcane University.

2) Wanna RP a merchant? Why not. Theres a multitude of people to sell to and things to collect aquiring money is an adventure in its own right.

3) Silent and Swift assassination your thing? Well the Dark Brotherhood are here or you and Lucian is eagerly awaiting your first blood.

4) Good guy Bad guy its your choice, but either way your going to make some enemies and good friends to kill em. Although keep in mind "the 9" love the righteous and hate the wicked, yet many Daedric Gods wont even acknowledge the meticulously good.

5) Weapons weapons weapons weapons and more weapons. but they'll cost you, but you'll never feel out axed with a Dwarven Battleaxe in your hands, unless they have a Daedric Warhammer that is o.O.

6) The theives are a noble kin, and have some of the best paying and most rewarding adventures in the game.

7) A painting speaks a thousand words, most of which are cursing when you've just got yourself stuck in the painting and had your brush stolen by a crazy Breton and his painted trolls.

8) The plains of Oblivion kinda like hell but fun and full of rare Daedric artifacts.

9) Illusion, Mysticism, Conjuration, and Destruction are just four schools of magic of which there are many and each just as demanding but equally worth it.

10) Roman Gladiators! Bah wimps! Bloody noobs! prove your worth as a gladiator and destory the opposition, rising to the supreme rank of Grand Champion. But be warned the last battle could be a doozy.

11) Being invisible is fun for so many reasons ;)

12) 9 Citys, 1 of which in flames, and its your job to sort it. Or you could ignore it your choice (again) Oh and they all have different cultures and settings, with varying degrees of hospitality or hostility. Thsts just the cities mind, then theres towns and villages spread across the map randomly. Note: Hackdirt is a place some may wish to avoid.

Well thats all I'll say on the matter, there is so much more, but I don't want to end up spoiling the awesomeness that is Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

5.0 out of 5 stars This game is amazing!! (and addictive), 2 April 2007

Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
NOTE - I own the US version of the game... so YES, I actually have played it.

After reading reviews, and seeing some screen shots of this game... I wasn't 100% convinced. But I listened to the high praise that the reviewers gave it. The game lives up to the hype! The "world" that you adventure through is so large, that I can't see myself finding all of the hidden locations throughout. The way they structure your quests (both primary and secondary quests) makes it very easy to track what you have to do. But you never have to follow the quests. You can do your own thing - wander around and kill people, or try to work your way up in various guilds. The game is open-ended. WARNING: This game is very addictive. Your friends / family / etc are not going to be happy. Be prepared to call in sick!

5.0 out of 5 stars oblivion - current king of games, 15 Aug 2007
Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
Wow. that is the simple way to put it. before this game was even out, i was reading up on it on the website. as soon as it was, i began saving money to get a pc capable of running it. but then i heard it was coming out on ps3. i am a ps fan, as they are always reliable. as soon as the game was out i got it.
and it did not disappoint. the graphics are stunning, only enhanced by the ps3. the game runs so smoothly, with no loading screens lasting more than 15 seconds, and the controls are easy to master. there are no jolts as you just stroll around, unless there is a sudden huge change in the area you are in (e.g. - about 50 burning dogs falling onto a scared town of cat-men). even then this only lasts for a few seconds.
but now for the gamplay itself. the first thing which struck me was how much improved the combat is since morrowind, it's predescessor. swords axes and whatever weapons you can think of on there are all used realistically. the power attack feature is brilliant, as it often makes you life easier while looking cool. magic has also improved. spells have brilliant effects and are likely to send people flying. paralsis spell are one of the most fun. you can cast on someone, then sit back and laugh as they topple into the water nearby. one improvement im thankful for is how opponents now die. instead of falling in one of a small number of preprogammed ways, they fall realistically. after all, it made no sense to hit a man with a battle-axe straight in the chest, and have him fall towards you.
the knights of the nine questline and weapons added in is another great feature of the ps3 version. it is almost as gripping as the main quest itself, or indeed almost any the well though out quests.
this is a must have for ps3 owners.
