Product Description

Review

`The Savagery in Mexico is our glimpse of the coming wars in this 21st century of globalised capitalism. So far, we Cassandras who endeavour to report it do so from the outside. Now, the master of border noir, Charles Bowden, and the chronicler of carnage from bloody day to bloody day, Molly Molloy, penetrate its dark heart. The story of EL SICARIO is at once that of the killers and torturers who propel this nightmare, and a yearning for redemption from its opaque depths that resonate in all of us. Terrifying, but not to know this is ignorance.' --Ed Vulliamy, author of Amexica

Brought this book after seeing it at Gatwick airport and was looking forward to a good read. Sadly, this was not the case, I was expecting some type of 'confessions' but found none. Not an interesting read and not a book I would recommend to other True Crime readers.

Less than I expected 3 April 2012
Format:Paperback
Bought this as a holiday read and wish I had picked something else instead. Thought the introduction was over written and returned to the same point several times. After reading the book through I can only assume they did this to pad out the rest of the book.
Wouldnt recommend.

This book was a purchase that I made on the fly after reading a brief part of it through an article in the Independent.

It is certainly shocking but you really need to understand the larger context of the drug war to get a full appreciation of how this book fits in.

Read Amexica for this and then if you are interested in one very specific part of it, read this.
