Manufacturer's Description

El Shaddai: Ascension of the Metatron is a 3rd person fantasy action title inspired by events in the Old Testament, in particular the apocryphal 'Book of Enoch'. Enoch, a brave and just human, is caught up in a pivotal battle raging between Heaven and the Fallen Angels. Though lacking their monstrous powers, he must overcome the Fallen Angels in order to save humankind from a great flood ordered by Heaven to wash away their twisted empire on Earth. In order to succeed, Enoch must use his natural combat skills and master a range of powerful Heavenly weapons under the guidance of the watchful Archangels. Heaven's true wild card is Lucifel, the enigmatic red-eyed angel, who is always in Enoch's ear with a word of advice and a line in dry wit. The tale combines adventure, humor, and horror, along with breathtaking beauty and heart-tugging emotion.

4.0 out of 5 stars You have never seen a game like this... 10 Sep 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Sadly with the amount of games coming out at the mo from deus-ex to batman this will probably get overlooked,
but this game has to be played to see how beautiful it is.
Honestly, the graphics are so incredible im sure the developers were on something!
While playing the game the story can be abit confusing, its based on the book of enoch (your character) fighting angels that have fallen to earth & have to be stopped before 'the council' and god decide to wipe them out (humans included) with a flood...
The cons:
As i said, the story can get confusing
the gameplay can be very frustrating at times
The lip synch isnt very good
The pros:
The graphics
Gameplay can be fun
2D side scrolling mixed with 3D fighting/exploration/platforming
The graphics (seriously)
Bike riding like Tron..in fact some bits reminded me of Tron
I know there are more cons & i said graphics twice in the pros but this is a game that has to be played, even if you rent first.
7.5/10

5.0 out of 5 stars El Shaddai 24 Nov 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I love this game! It's a great action/adventure/platform game, and probably the prettiest game you'll ever play. The story is slightly confusing, but the platforming gets challenging, especially toward the end, and the battles are fun if you like games like Devil May Cry or Zelda.
Each area is done in a different style, but they all look amazing. I also liked how there is no HUD, not even a health bar, so you have to watch the guys clothes and armour slowly fall away for indication of how close to death you are. If you do die, you can also ressurect yourself by quickly bashing buttons. If you like games that are quirky and beautiful it's definately worth playing!
The only downside for me was it was too short, and only took me about 5 hours to complete, but I would play through again.
I also partly left this review to try and boost the rating back up after some idiot gave it one star :p

2.0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing 1 May 2013

I had high hopes for this game when I first started playing. The combat seemed enjoyable and the surreal environments looked great. But about an hour and a half into the game you've seen everything it has to show. The same three enemies over and over in surroundings that are just copy and pasted from previous levels and painted a different colour.
