I bought this drill because i only use a drill ocasonally and kept forgetting to recharge the batteries on my rechargable drill , being mains operated meens when i have the odd job this drill is just fine ,it performs just as it says and i dont find a mains lead a problem as i use an extension lead . If you want a reasonably priced mains drill i would recomend this one . Delivery was great two days after i ordered it and free as well.

I wanted a fairly basic drill at short notice, to replace a cordless drill that gave up the ghost far too soon. The Einhell attracted me mainly because of its low Amazon price and its very decent specification. It seems remarkably well made for the money and feels sturdy. The extra handle is useful given the drill can be used in "Hammer" mode as well as normal drill mode. Not too heavy either. Overall excellent value for money.

Has worked well so far, some of my walls are tough so I'm very pleased. If you don't see any updates below then assume that all is still good.
PS: Do not use Trans Tools to buy this or any item from, there customer service is some of the worst I've ever had, as is their choice of courier (UKmail.com), there feedback looks good but I'm not the only one to suffer unacceptable accusations from this very rude company. Take a look at "Lee Cullen's" reply's to comments made on their seller feedback for a taste of what you will get when things go wrong! I cancelled and re-ordered from another supplier who achieved what they could not(delivery of the drill) with ease.

Update: If you need to drill through a concrete lintel then this is not the drill for the job, the hammer drill is not up to it. I spent more than an hour drilling two holes that were only just deep enough for the curtain pole fixings. I borrowed a friends Challenge Extreme hammer drill, frightening and slightly unwieldy but it did the other seven holes in less than fifteen minutes to the right depth.

I don't do a lot of work with this drill, using it on average about once a month. Still I'm happy with it. It's attractive, not excessively noisy and hasn't caused me any grief or let me down.

Great value product. Drills into Chirt stone which is bloody hard without any problem. Does not come with a case but not a major problem.

Nice solid feel to this drill. I have used it now for a couple of years. Dropped it etc but it still works. Good solid feel and build quality. I would buy again.

Update 14th April 2013: This drill is still going strong after 2 years use, so I am well pleased.

Really pleased with this drill it's just the right weight for me.

Sometimes the drill bit gets stuck in the wall as it comes out of the chuck. But that could just be me not doing it up tight enough, and it's usually the smaller drill bits

First impressions weren't too promising. The box that the drill comes in is a bit flimsy (mine was already splitting on receipt), and the trigger is made of fairly insubstantial plastic.

However, the drill has a decent weight and the additional handle fits on very securely, and can be adjusted to an angle that is comfortable to use. There is a simple 2-way switch on top to choose between standard drill mode and hammer action, and the speed of the drill is determined by how much pressure you put on the trigger. This is quite easy and instinctive to use.

In use, the drill has a nice solid feel to it, which is no surprise as it is German-made. Time will tell how well it lasts, but based on initial use, and the very reasonable price, it's well deserving of a 5-star rating.
