Wow – what a great Petrol trimmer package. You basically get something that’s ready to work straight out of the box. This is the 2nd Petrol trimmer I’ve had – and it beats the first one. The build quality is great – all though only time will really tell. It’s got so much torque that the spinning head feels like a gyroscope: and the grass and weeds simply fall before it like Muslims at prayer. Great! Only small trees can stand before the flexi-blade string at full power – but this package comes with a solid-blade attachment designed especially for that purpose, so you can cut them down too. The power control is amazingly accurate; mid power does most grass and dandelions but a tougher specimen – can be dealt with by pressing fully on the throttle. There is also a harness that comes in box – so you can keep doing this for at least an hour before feeling some pressure from the weight. I was planning on wearing ear protectors – but the sound of the power unit is reasonable – even pleasant – if you like 2-strole engines. Starting takes a little effort – but I find – it starts on the 2nd pull on the starter string. The petrol consumption is ok; but looking at the tank – can be misleading; it may look half full – but you soon find it drains quickly towards the last half.

What I don’t like is the main problem with the package: - the instruction manual is very sparse – next to being useless. It’s rather thick since it’s Multilanguage – but the relevant section I needed was just too sparse and minimal. But thankfully the unit is easy to assemble and intuitive in its operation. So I guessed most of it and guessed right. The fuel priming button was not shown on the manual – and if I was not mechanically minded – I would have been puzzled what it looked like or where it was.

Firstly I would like to apologise to the poor delivery man who had to ‘schlep’ the box up the stairs when he delivered it. It is a rather sturdy piece of kit. In fact I swear that the brush and grass trembled when they saw me approach. Heh heh! I thought, prepare to be zapped. And, forgiving the terrible grammar, zapped they were. The brush was slaughtered and I felt very smug.

But beware the trimmer has some tricky parts, firstly it is very, very heavy, you may find yourself needing to rest your arms. There is a carry strap which can help. To ensure full independence the trimmer is petrol operated no cables to be pulled or cut, but you need to mix together a two stroke mixture of petrol and oil.

Fiddly but makes the trimmer fully portable.

Self assembly is relatively easy, there are instructions but as everybody knows you only read them in desperation. It takes time but you are left with a rather nice shiny trimmer. You can take the trimmer apart for easy storage. That’s a clever touch

The auto-choke makes it easy to start and that is great. You can restore your garden to beauty with one of these bad boys, I must confess I felt quite primeval using this thing.

For those nasty over-grown jobs.

Myself and another user both found the bit that locks the two shaft parts together broke after short use. The metal was very poor quality. Spares were unavailable. Potential buyers should be aware of this, if it goes wrong, you're stuffed. Like so many throwaway consumer items its not built to last. A shame because the basic design seemed OK.

It seems good value on the surface but the quality isnt there. If Einhell want to improve their reputation they need to have higher quality control and carry proper spares, not just the blades and strimming line.

Entertaining mistranslation in the instructions where one section, presumably meant to be something like 'Instructions for use' is entitled "Using the Home Waterworks" ?????

I like this machine, it was easy to set up and starts fairly easily. It is heavy but the carry strap helps, once you learn which way round to use it. The twine is heavy duty so does not constantly break and the "tap" method of extending the twine is effective.

As an owner of a couple of fields tat are blighted by all sorts of weed nastiness something like this is an absolute godsend. Not overly heavy although you'll appreciate the carrying strap, easy to use and highly effective. I've used battery trimmers in the past which are OK but of limited endurance, and their cutting power tends to wane quite quickly. With a petrol engine you have full power right up until the fuel runs out .

Highly recommended!

Bought to tackle a cliff edge overgrown with brambles ferns, ivy and the like which defeated my lightweight strummer. Fitted with the blade it was powerful enough to make short work of the growth and would rate five stars with me if it were not for the almost total lack of instructions. No problem with the mechanics BUT the harness (necessary because of the weight); handlebars, very wide and the positioning of these so as to achieve comfortable use suggests it was designed for Grosser Germans of at least two meters in height and is a very unsatisfactory piece of kit.
I have tried various adjustments on harness and bars and sworn at it a lot but have yet to establish a comfortable user position.

Shame, it starts readily and if you can hang on to it does a great job.

Peter M.
