5.0 out of 5 stars AMAZING! 20 Nov 2003
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I bought this album on a recomendation from a friend. When I opened the cd cover I thought that this cd was going to be another thrash death band that sounds exactly the same as everything else. I was seriously wrong! This cd is UNBELIEVABLE. The singer sounds like a cross between Bruce Dickinson and Phil Anselmo and the music is just mad. Riffs flying out of no where, melodies that haunt you for days. The band are amazing musicians that bring their style to life. The only way I can describe the music is a cross between Maiden, Pantera, Priest, Iced Earth fused together with orchestrations that any composer would be proud of! Any one who likes metal of any kind should definately check these guys out!

5.0 out of 5 stars Biomechanical wonder 6 Nov 2003

I'll try not to make this review too long as i would hate to bore you. And boring is one thing this cd is not! Trying to describe a band with such a technical sound, without mentionnig the established name of dream theater, is usually impossible. However, not in this instance. The singer deserves considerable praise for his stunning performance, with notes both high and listenable. No thin high range here. Present is also the ubiquitous guitar hero. And the rhythm section is also worthy of note for complex yet catchy arrangements. A trick not often convincingly performed. Rather than another dream theater all hail queensryche's successors to the progressive metal, with songs, crown.

5.0 out of 5 stars Behold their works ye mighty and despair 13 Jan 2004
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
You need to own this album. Take it as read. But you haven't got the cash? Then you'll have to try to reproduce the effect of this album by other means: Arrange a joint concert of Led Zeppelin and the Royal Philarmonic Orchestra in the darkest chasm of the underworld and you might be halfway there. Uniquely versatile vocals compete with classic riffs, backed most crucially of all by an impeccable rhythm section. Jon C's bass punctuates my soul.

Sell the children. Buy it.
