I was an intern at the Off-Broadway theater where this show went in the beginning of 2009, and I saw the show twice. I loved it. As I understood it, at the Edinburgh Fringe the audience selected 4 or 5 of the 8 monologues to hear each night. In NYC they did all 8 monologues, which made for around 2 hours of theater. Any show that can hold the attention of an audience for two hours of monologues without intermission is truly worthy of praise.
I don't know how the play is to read, since it's unavailable in the US, and after three years I'm finally in the UK and able to buy it. Shows my dedicated to the script!
The character depth is phenomenal, and the humor, even in the most brutal places, is well-placed and intricate. Anyone in this generation should see this play or read it!
