This is all a bit confusing because there seem to be more reviews for a rerecorded version of TELGM than the original. Anyway, the original LP is a cracker - Slade meets The Buzzcocks in a spiteful, immature classic debut. Standout tracks are Redberry Joy Town (a stunning Wah-Wah solo on one note), A Wish Away, Give Give Give and Ruby Horse. A review of the rerecorded version says Miles' more mature voice is an improvement but it's his youthful sneer that carries the album. Also, I can't believe the drumming could be as good. The Wonder Stuff seem to be deeply unfashionable, perhaps because they went a bit too folky, but on this evidence they should only be a couple of notches below The Jam in the rankings of great British guitar bands.

This has to be the best Wonder Stff album: it is the most rock 'n' roll, and has all the best Stuff songs on it. Only 'Rue The Day' is devoid of Wonder-Stuff-isms, but it is overall an incredible album.
