It's January 1967. After being drafted and completing basic training, you are plunged into the steamy jungles of Indochina. Heroic ideals of fighting for honor and country quickly fade in the face of the fierce warfare: there is no glory in death. As a rookie soldier, you must quickly learn the finer arts of jungle and urban warfare to become a battle-hardened soldier and survive your first tour of duty.
Your base camp forms the central focus for your Operations, with your primary objective to pacify threats from the Viet Cong and North Vietnamese Army (NVA). You will need to venture deep into the hostile Vietnamese countryside to search out and destroy enemy troops and encampments. With visibility low, potentially every bush and tree could be an enemy-hiding place. Only by careful observation and hastily learnt war craft shall the enemy be overcome.

Napalm this game.,

Showing the true horrors of 'Nam. At least that is the claim. The fact that the game is played as one person simply trying to survive conscription in the jungles and swamps of Vietnam seemed like a good idea to me. The idea of joining as a grunt, working up to special forces and messing around in basecamp seemed like fun... The third person view point for the game didn't. It seems to seperate you from the character you are trying to become in the game. The graphics were a disappointment too- having seen some of the gaming advances made of late, I was expecting a real blood and guts and glory environmental masterpiece- which this just isn't. Dying is actually pretty hard too- get hit a few times, hide for a bit, and bingo, full health again. Finally basecamp. The much hyped and much looked forward to basecamp is a bit of a dump to be honest. And dull. And repetitive. And annoying. Music's ok though. That nurse never does court marshall you either. All in all this game seems dated and old, which is a shame as it is a good idea for a game.

I bought this as soon as it was released, and have given it a thoroughly good chance. I really wanted to be pleased with it as I had chosen it over Conflict : Vietnam, which was released at the same time.I'm disappointed. While the graphics are awesome, it runs well on my machine, which only just meets the 'recommended specs'(P4 2.4 Ghz, 512 MB RAM & a Nvidea FX5200 128MB). The detail on your soldier is just great. Grenade explosion are very good - the way they shower earth and dust. However,that is the best part. The gameplay is just not up to much, and the interface is uninspiring. Also, it is just not as atmospheric as Battlefield Vietnam. Its also not a multiplayer game. It can be quite repetetive - when you die, you go back to the last checkpoint, and the enemy troops reappear in the same place. I'd be interested to see if anyone agrees with me. I'll play it some more then.

If you like action games with realism forget this.Looks and plays like a childs game. played in 3rd person mode no 1st person available graphics not realistic enough. Have played this for ten minutes what a waste of time and money. compares to conflict desert storm where you have little control over movements and to shoot is difficult even if you bead with mouse button 2. not recommended to persons looking for good game play. 2115|R1HHYJ4IC2RLQS;2115|ROJDMRKN363H1;2115|R1GDIZPSL0O05M;
