The plotline is standard military sim fare--strategic targets must be blown up, prisoners rescued and bullets expended by the thousand--but the extra edge provided by the ability to drive vehicles and to creep around undetected by the excitable Iraqi guards makes this a must-have rather than a nice-to-have. The maximum squad size for any given mission is four team members, each soldier having a special ability ranging from marksmanship to explosives use. In theory, handling four troops simultaneously sounds like a tall order but developer Pivotal has done a great job of creating a control system that works well, even in the heat of battle.
Desert Storm is not an easy game by any stretch of the imagination and the learning curve can be quite steep; stick with it, though, and there's much to recommend it. For the cautious player there's an excellent training mode that gives thorough instruction on how to perform all of the basic functions and is guaranteed to turn you into a killing machine. --Chris Russell

Well worth it,

An outstanding game involving the strategic placement of your four man combat team to fufill a wide variety of missions in excellent graphical landscapes. Took me 20 hours of play time to finish on 'easy' level - and a similar amount of time in subsequent attempts on 'medium' level. Enemy fire is accurate and deadly (particularly tanks which must be knocked out quickly). 'Difficult' level is exactly that....a few hits and your man will go down. A pity it only has two vehicle missions/levels - the town/country foot missions are for the most part great. A shoot them up requiring problem solving and planning.

Conflict Desert Storm, Great game few glitches,
This review is from: Conflict: Desert Storm (PS2) (Video Game)
Rarely have I played a game as strategic as this but at the same time enjoyable. It seems from the outset through the opening sequence, that you're in for a real treat as far as the authenticity and game play goes, and you soon find yourself in a wonderful sprawling environment that really puts you in the mood for action. The game play is nice and smooth with easy interaction between characters, although sometimes you have to switch between players whilst moving strategicly, to avoid being compromised by the enemy. This at times becomes a little annoying but necessary, given the fact that the other characters may sometimes shoot at the enemy and give away your posistion, when there is is no danger of being seen and you've previously given the order not to do just that. This is actually something quite minor in the whole scope of the game as this actually helps with locating enemy you've overlooked or just not spotted giving you a vocal warning. The wide range of weaponry available is very useful in completing your missions and the missions themselves are diverse enough to hold your interest and give you the incentive to play on. The night missions I especially liked and the night vision option was a nice view to work in. I found also that this game is one that you want to learn to master and have total control over, and you feel as though your right in the thick of it all of the time. The enemy AI is very good and sometimes a little too good. The fact that you'll be moving covertly and somehow be spotted immediately as you turn a corner from literaly miles away, by some guy that you can only just make out through the binoculars becomes frustrating at points, but again, this is not something not to dectract from the overall game because it can be avoided through slow and careful movement. The graphics are competent and though not the best you'll see on the playstation are good and clear without being confusing. Considering the original environment it shouldn't be that hard to get a good authentic look and it's been achieved in style here.

Great,

This is truly a great game. The graphics do not stress the ability of the ps2, but are still good. The scenery of the missions are impressive, ranging from deserts, enemy camps, to big cities. In each of these locations you must remain aware, because of the vulnerability of your men to enemy attacks. It is very realistic in terms of weapons, vehicles, and injuries. If your man gets shot in the leg, he limps. Go and add this game to your shopping basket. NOW, go on, NOW!
