This book is basically existing Western Yoga practices which have been given an Egyptian twist. It also takes Ancient Egyptian text and tries to justify it in relation to these Yoga philosophies, whilst having no true appreciation of Ancient Egyptian culture or beliefs. I have a greater understanding, and I'm only an enthusiastic amateur on Ancient Egypt. It also tends to preach when it comes to lifestyle and does not explain why something should be done or followed. If you're looking for a book which shows some yoga moves, then it's OK, although there are better books out there. If you have any expectations in respect of Ancient Egypt, it's best avoided.

This book is a thorough introduction into Egyptian Yoga.
One of the premises of the book is that Egyptian Yoga predates and is the foundation for Indian Yoga.
Dr. Ashby backs up that statement in a variety of ways.
The Yoga positions are defined/explained in terms of egyptian gods.
This is a very fresh approach vs. the Hatha/Astanga/Indian way.
Ashby also goes into Egyptian Mythology to explain the origins and processes of the poses.
He is a teacher of the highest order.
This book is accompanied by a DVD, which I will soon get.
