“Tres Cabrones is as close as we’re willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up,” explained Osborne, of the 12-song album that reunites him, Dale Crover and original drummer Mike Dillard. “The best part is it’s all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we ... Read more in Amazon's Melvins Store

This was the first Melvins record i brought back in '94 and i still love them today. This was also the first time i'd heard the band.I dont think anything can prepare you for the noise you hear, uncontrolled feedback,no particular song structure, i'd heard sonic youth before this but Eggnog was just pure genious. This is the true answer for what was Kobains naff grunge explosion and it gets better every time i hear it. Lay back and let charmicarmicat wash over you like waves of black tar. This is also where Kharnate got all of their ideas.I really recomend this album if you like heavy experimental music.

Satan probabally has this one on his i-pod 30 Dec. 2006

My wife bought me this one for Chistmas just a few days ago (it's called Eggnog after all!). It's one of a handful of Melvins albums I haven't had the pleasure of owning yet. Naturally, it does not disappoint. There's a short track list on this album, but the final track "Charmicarmicat" is a real gem. It's a masterpiece of painful and glorious doom, on par with "Boris" from their Bullhead album. It's about ten minutes of blood & guts oozing from the bowels of your speakers, and sounds like a steamroller stuck in slow gear plowing over a mountain of screaming puppies. I'd be willing to bet this is the song playing in the elevator ride down to Hell.

Bastards 6 Mar. 2000

So, my best friend is away at college right now. He shares a house with three complete morons who listen to techno, indie rock and noise; and buy Aphex Twin mousepads on Ebay. These people get incredibly annoying really fast. Whenever my friend wants some time to himself, he throws a Melvins album on the turntable and those three roommates are practically out of the state before the needle hits the groove. I think Eggnog is one of the better Melvins albums to throw on that will make you, the listener, feel completely satisfied and make those idiots down the hall run for cover. The Melvins are the smartest, heaviest and most original bands around. If this isn't a good enough recommendation then you probably own a Squarepusher nightlight.

As Heavy As It Gets 23 April 1998

I was lucky enough to catch these guys at an outdoor concert in Olympia WA during the release of this fine piece of work. I watched dazed, pummeled and hypnotized as they slogged through a 30 minute version of 'Charmicarmacat' then ripped through their viking rocker 'Hog Leg' .Joe Preston blasted the audience with low frequency while Dale Grover drove the point home relentlessly beating his drums into submission. They finished up the grueling set with 'Wispy' and 'Antitoxidote'. I still don't know what hit me to this day. Buy this album.

Ahhh blastitude: I too was at that fateful Oly, WA outdoor show. A wedding was letting out across the street. Can U imagine the reception?? Thought the AMPS were busted. Check out recording on "International Pop Underground" live compilation, vinyl version only. Tru magick, son. Abstracted Dada metal? Naw, these guys were into some serious spellcasting and here tis, their sorcerous quest come to a screaming collision, fuel fumes a million miles wide. This was the first cd I wore out. Yes, it can happen.

This album will destroy you. Be prepared to plug it in when annoying people come over, for it shall verily dispell them like the insects they are. This is the music of the lourds, so heed it well, and play it loud. Amen.
