Book Description

Sometimes funny, sometimes serious, mostly absurd collection of poetry and essays from rising comedy star Bo Burnham.

Bo Burnham was a teenager living in his parents' attic in Massachusetts when he started posting funny songs to YouTube that immediately turned heads with their wise satire that belied his very young age. He quickly struck a chord. Over 16 million people watched his videos and he soon amassed a gigantic (and young) online following that excitedly awaited each new video. Soon after that, Bo became revered in all comedy circles for being a wholly original, highly intelligent young voice. Judd Apatow started championing the young comedian, and Bo taped his first Comedy Central special at age 18, the youngest in history. His comedy/song albums were huge critical and commercial successes. His MTV show ZACH STONE IS GONNA BE FAMOUS, of which he is the star, writer, director, and producer, and which largely comments on his own rise to fame, will premiere in 2013.

Written in his very distinctive comedic voice, EGGHEAD: OR, YOU CAN'T SURVIVE ON IDEAS ALONE brings Bo's award-winning brand of brainy word play to the page in the form of off-kilter writings, thoughts, and poems. Collaborating with longtime friend, artist and illustrator Chance Bone, Bo writes about everything from painful breakups to bald barbers, in a collection that makes the reader laugh, but like his stand-up and music, also displays surprisingly mature insights.

With one text piece and one original black & white illustration per page, this book will appeal to Bo's already established fans.

From the Inside Flap

EGGHEAD

or. You Can't Survive on Ideas Alone

Bo Burnham was a precocious teenager living in his parents' attic when he started posting material on YouTube. One hundred million people viewed those videos, turning Bo into an online sensation with a huge and dedicated following. Bo taped his first of two Comedy Central specials four days after his eighteenth birthday, making him the youngest to do so in the channel's history. Now Bo is a rising star in the comedy world, revered for his utterly original voice. Also, he can SIIIIIIING! (Kind of.)

In EGGHEAD, Bo brings his brand of brainy, emotional comedy to the page in the form of off-kilter poems, thoughts, and more. Teaming up with his longtime friend, artist and illustrator Chance Bone, Bo takes on everything from death to farts in this weird book that will make you think, laugh, and think, "Why did I just laugh?"

If you are using YouTube then you have probably heard about Bo Burnham.

He became a big star who came from anonymity to world-wide recognition thanks to his videos.
After that he recorded three Comedy Central specials, becoming the youngest ever person who managed to achieve that, afterwards getting his show on MTV.
Due to his talent for humor, he is great entertainer that will hopefully make a great career in comedy.

"Egghead" is his first book, and although it's advertised as poetry book it's actually mix of poetry, Bo's thoughts and nice illustrations made by Chance Bone.

Although it's difficult to describe his style, taking into account his simplicity but in same time style distinction from other comedians, Bo doesn't have unpleasant or unusual topics that he doesn't dare to write about - inside the book among others you'll find his thoughts about breakups, bald barbers and death that will make you laugh no matter how oddly these themes sounds.

Therefore, if you're Bo's fan you will certainly love his book due to his known style that made him famous.
And for all others who want to read something funny, new and refreshing, I suggest you to give chance to Bo Burnham's book that will make you laugh.

"Egghead" is good debut book from Bo Burnham that I fully recommend.

Bo doesn't dissappoint with Egghead. It's cleverly written and I've read it multiple times. With each read my favourite poem changes with an eclectic range of themes. Chance Bone's illustrations make the poems even more entertaining and those alone are all amazing. 5*

5.0 out of 5 stars Thoroughly Enjoyable 23 Nov. 2014

Wonderful book, a big enough Bo Burnham fan as I am already although I believe this book would be a great read for anyone who enjoys comedy and/or poetry. The poems are well written and hilarious with some that are genuinely thought provoking and all enjoyable. Props to the illustrator too as it is done very well to create one pleasing piece of work which I occasionally dip into if I'm feeling bored or in need of a laugh

A must have for Bo Burnham fans! Or just poetry fans, really. It has a very good balance of comedic and profound, and makes for a fun but perhaps light read. Got through it kinda quickly, but that's not an issue. Love this book!
