Comment: A book which is in good overall condition. This means that it will be largely free of page markings, the spine will still be in solid, tight condition and there will be no pages which are missing from the book. The pages may have slightly turned corners but overall the book should be clean to touch and enjoyable to read.

"Oh no - not another book on strategy, why on earth did I buy this?" I asked myself when I found my copy a year ago. It had lain unread for a couple of years and I had forgotten about it. However, John Adair is right up there with Peter Drucker as being worth reading if you are a practicing manager. His ideas are insighftul and often implementable, immediately. He makes complicated ideas simple. I read a page of this book most days, and it is nearly always helpful. As well as things to do, Adair reassures the reader on how to think and deal with uncertainty, by giving momorable examples.

Still working my way through this book. I may not be doing it justice as i do i do skip backwards and forwards, picking out the relevent parts. I have found it a little too wordy on the 'examples' front but it does make a change from pure diagram/ theory texts i've plowed through in the past. On the whole a good book to have sat on your desk when in need of inspiration, advice, or just some confirmation your on the right track!

John Adair taught military history and also served in the Arab Legion which is an elite unit of the arab armies. Knowing the theory and pratice of warfare puts John in a good position to give advice to modern organisations on just what strategy is and how its successful implementation will aid success in a competitive environment. Written in a very readable and engaging style, the book is not just for businesses but also a good read for personal development with discussions on trust, respect and ethical and moral dilemmas
1. Understanding strategic leadership looks at the roots, developement and role of the strategic leader
2. Leading the Way lists the Critical Successful Factors for implementation
3. I am myself my own commander is the final section looks inward at yourself.
An excellent book for any business analyst or high level policy maker
