Really useful book for health care studies at university. I recommend it, as I was always borrowing it from the library.

HASH(0x90ccd054) out of 5 stars Unique perspective will inform non-UK reader 10 May 2006
By S. Smith - Published on
Format: Paperback
A USA healthcare leader (whether a leader or an educator of leaders) will probably glance at this book because of its title and then put it aside as not relevant since the context is healthcare leadership in Britain. Having read the book, I think non-British readers will find a wealth of information that will inform their practice but most importantly cause readers to think about our USA system in new and creative ways. You may think you know everything about transformational leadership, strategic management, governance, and leading change, but the cultural context of the book jolts the USA reader into frequently wondering, I wonder if this would work here? How would I translate this to my management style? There are some great ideas and approaches to leadership in the book for readers in any country. Most notable to me was the material on one of the author's CLINLAP (clinical nursing leadership learning and action process) model to improve workplace effectiveness. USA readers will find the model useful for work in a quality-driven, multidisciplinary, collaborative healthcare environment. This is a helpful read for a fresh perspective on healthcare leadership. Faculty will find it a useful additional resource.
