Product Description

Product Description

Hauntings and legends both frighten and fascinate us. They twist our imaginations, sculpt shadows into spectres, and make the dark places in our homes things to fear. Yet, for all of that, we cannot seem to turn away from them. Perhaps this is because, at their heart, these stories are so very human. Death, fear, revenge, hate and love: ghost stories and similar tales of terror bring to us all the facets of good drama set against an otherworldly mise-en-scène.

Following on from the success of the first book, Eerie Britain 2 tells the stories behind ten more of the most intriguing and irresistible places to be found scattered around Britain; places whose stories have been whispered for hundreds—sometimes thousands—of years.

So, draw the curtains, cut yourself an extra large piece of that carrot cake you’ve been saving for Maud (she doesn’t deserve it anyway), throw another log onto the crackling fireplace and snuggle into the heavy folds of your fleecey onesie as we take a look at ten more of the most petrifying places, ghoulish goings-on and horrifying haunts to be found within the British Isles.

More About the Author

After many years of writing for other people, creating the Eerie Britain series has been something of a labour of love.

While I don't believe in every ghost story out there, I do adore the macabre legends and atmospheric tales that quite often surround hauntings. I have been fascinated by these things since childhood, and searching for the truth behind these stories has sometimes revealed more than I expected. Many books that deal with these subjects simply regurgitate the most well-known elements and leave it at that, but I wanted to go further and look into historical records to root out their origins - where possible. I hope I have added some interesting and new facets to each story.

Now, after two Eerie Britain ebooks and a print version, I plan to work on more fiction.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty Tales of Terror 10 Nov 2012
By Hobo
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A nice selection of tales of the supernatural at selected locations throughout the UK to the present day. The author integrates legends and folklore with modern sightings of the paranormal. Some of the stories are well known and many not so well known.I liked the way the author kept the readers attention with not overlong chapters.Dracula,Barghest and the terror that haunted Berkley Square are all featured together with some possible explanations into some of the hauntings make for an entertaining read.I wonder what happened to the two poor Australian backpackers after their terryfying trip in Edinburgh? read and enjoy...perhaps keep the light on at night though!
