You might be in Edinburgh to explore the closes and wynds of one of Europe's most beautiful cities, to sample the finest Scotch whiskies and to discover a rich Celtic heritage of traditional music and story-telling. Or you might be in Leith to get blootered. Either way, this is the guide for you. This is the Bestpubs Bible when doing Edinburgh.

This slim volume reviews Edinburgh (and Leith) pubs, as it claims. The reviews aren't hugely detailed, but they at least helped us to highlight the ones we want to visit and those we want to avoid. Having been to Edinburgh once before, last year, we had fun going through and finding out some details about the ones we had already visited, having our impressions validated or finding out things we didn't know when we visited. We'll take it along in two weeks, saving us some time we hope. For my husband and me, vacation means good food and drink. This beats any museum guide we could buy. . ..

Half-inched this from a mate, don't know how I ever crawled Edinburgh without it. Should be on sale behind every bar, though you can see why not - the beer is always better, all that. Excellent, hope an update's due, Stuart!
