Book Description

15 Jan 2008 AA CityPack Guides
Ideal for business and leisure, the "Edinburgh CityPack" is succinct with all the practical information you need. The guide has been completely revamped with new content design and layout. There are four main sections: Essential..., By Area, Where to Stay and Need to Know. Edinburgh has been broken up into colour-coded districts, with the colour-coding cross-referenced throughout each section. Essential...starts with the Top 25 sights plus a locator map, then essential information to get the most of a short break in the city. By Area takes you through the sights of the city, district by district, with local shopping, entertainment and restaurant listings. Where to Stay picks the best hotels to suit your budget, with web addresses listed where available. Need to Know contains all the basics for a smooth-running trip. Each district within the city has a two-page, colour-coded locator map with sights listed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little guide 12 Nov 2010
Format:Spiral-bound
After planning a two day trip to Edinburgh I wanted a pocket guide that would show me the main 'not to be missed' attractions. I am really pleased with it. Nice photos and useful top ten sites section, as well as where to shop, eat, stay. The two street maps are not very good though being far too small. Could have done with a pull out one at the back perhaps. I've ended up buying a seperate street map.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent small guide 7 Sep 2011
Format:Paperback
This was an invaluable guide on a recent short break to Edinburgh. It contained all the information we needed, pointed us to the 'must see' sites and gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great guide for a wonderful city 17 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
We bought this guide book for a recent week in Edinburgh and it was definitely a goood choice! Although we knew some things we wanted to see, it provided us with lots of additional ideas and the restaurant recommendations were particularly good. The removable map was a great idea to just stick in a coat pocket for the day and I will definitely look at buying another in this series next time I go away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, with great map! 9 Nov 2009

This is the second AA CityPack that I have used - I really liked the first one that I used (Nice) so I bought this one for my visit to Edinburgh. They provide basic info on all the main things to see (basic compared to all the text in the Rough Guides...) - hence quick to read, to get all the info that you need before actually visiting the locations/museums. I find the included laminated map particularly useful.

Indeed my mum bought the Thomas Cook one for Nice however we ended up using the Nice AA one that I'd borrowed since it seemed to present the info clearer.
